Anyone who thinks ancient people were dumb are totally out of touch with what has actually happened.
An ancient man sat down on a stump and wrote the Bible fairy tales and said "this will screw up the future". Is that what i am supposed to believe?
My suggestion is that if you thinks that is the case you take a long walk.

My guess is early leaders needed a way to prevent bad behavior. They knew that most people were superstitious and would believe almost anything if it came from people whom they respected.

They devised a system that eliminated the need for proof. This is when we learn the power of faith. You insist that a being of unimaginable power watches them constantly and knows everything they think. You believe that your life was planned from conception to death.

At the conclusion of this exercise in futility (life), you get either eternity with Big Brother, to be watched and judged forever or you get to die yet again in a fiery torment. The thought of this makes Christians giddy. They are the scariest people on the planet.

I doubt that the inventors believed that the seeds that they planted would flourish as they have. They probably thought that in time people would embrace reality, in the meantime they would be frightened into good behavior.

If you are going to argue the age of a religion, then the hindus are right and christians are mere youngsters.

Besides, no one denies that the ancients understood how people thought. Promising people a future reward for a small investment has been a scam that works from the early religions to the spam of today.

Satan and demons have great powers compared to humans even to the point where Michael the archangel trusts only in God's power when dealing with Satan. Jude 1:9 But Satan's power is nothing compared to God's.

God commands us to have nothing to do with the occult, devil worship or involvement with the spirit world through the use of mediums, witches, seances, Ouija boards, horoscopes, tarot cards, channeling, etc. God considers these abominations. Those who involve themselves in such invite disaster.

Ancient people tried to tell us about the Nephilim. Even drew pictures in caves of them. The Bible describes them in many different forms with the capability of possessing humans. We find bones of giants throughout the world where the fallen angels had children with the daughters of men. They definitely had a different DNA. Their wickedness was so bad that only Noah survived the great flood when they first came to earth. They continue to come to earth even today.

Humans have never been all that smart. Probably the ancients were about on a par with humans before television and canned laughter.

Hey, they might have been totally ignorant of science, they sure knew people well.

Example: "if you are being persecuted or ridiculed, it means you're right"

That's brilliant, isn't it? I'm serious, that is some heavy-duty mess with your head stuff there.

We're dumb enough to keep falling for old stories about a magical place called hell.
