I am definitely with Kat G on this one. My cats (two long-hair, one short-hair) do NOT have hairballs. Their diet is meat only - a home prepared raw meat mixture and canned food.
I adopted a 17 year old long-haired cat last fall. His former owner reported he always threw up hairballs. He did have about four in the first four months, now has had none in the last six months.
Any dry food is an inappropriate diet for a cat. They are meant to consume meat. Their stomachs can handle meat + hair from grooming. When you have them on meat protein + grains + hair you get the vomiting.
So I don't go with any of the "remedies" for this problem as it is the diet which is causing it. If you don't change that you are fighting a losing game.

It is normal for cats to throw up more at this time of year. I have a long haired cat who is throwing up a lot at the moment. I too groom him at least every other day but I have found that hairball medicine helps as it it can help force the hairball out the other end if you get my drift. The one I use (and there are of course many others) is Hartz Advanced Care Hairball Remedy - Malt flavor. Cats typically love this so there is no problem in giving it. Just squeeze a lump about the size of a pea on to your finger and watch them devour it!! Your cat is throwing up a lot though I would check for signs of dehydration. That doesn't sound right.
I'd have her checked by a vet.
You may want to skip the Hairball food. Just feed her regular dry food with maybe a little hairball food mixed in.
Is she licking off hair and grooming obsessively? Have you noticed her licking hair off of carpet or furniture?
The hair has to be coming from her somehow.
Also- get some good quality cat grass in the house for her.

I have a Medium hair kitty that does that and my short hair grooms her and throws up hairballs too. My vet suggested putting a little bit of Vasaline on their paws so that they will lick it off and it will help to break up some of the leftover fur in their tummys. Also, there are all kinds of hairball formulas at pet stores that you can either add to their food or give them orally.
I would also suggest a more oval brush called EasyGroom Shedding Blade, made especially for grooming long haired kitties. My cat LOVES it and it takes off a lot of fur.

A cat is going to groom themselves regardless of how often you do. The one with the longer hair will get more hairballs. It is gross to see them, but they are normal. You can try giving her some butter, just once or twice a week though, or she will gain crazy weight. The butter will help the hairballs not get so big and help her get them out easier.

My cat did this until I started giving him 1 can of wet food a day and I also left dry food out. After he ate the wet food he only vomited 1 a month if that. The wet food contains oils that help them pass the hair balls.

Well if it's constantly cleaning him/herself then I can see why, but you can purchase a over the counter medication that will help a cat with hairballs. The medication will help them poop out the hairballs instead of coughing them up.

hi.. well, they do make a product for cats who have massive hair ball issues.
i think it comes in a tube? you can check with your pet supplies store and ask them if they have something which might help.
hugs to you and the kitty
