Why can't they just recieve Jesus (get thier fire insurance) and forget about the Power that they can have by being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
I mean, we really do not need all the blessings that God wants to give us. Do we?

The church needs to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. I'm not sure if you are asking from the outside in but the church which is the body needs to be Baptized. W/o the power you can't do anything...there is a song out and the chorus goes "if we are the body...why aren't his hands reaching? Why aren't his saving teaching? Why aren't his hands healing?" It goes something to that effect. We are the body. The Holy spirit gives you the power to cast out demons, speak in new tongues, take up serpents, lay hands on the sick (they shall recover)...he was even bold enough to say that if we drink anything deadly like a poison, it shall by no means hurt us. The Holy spirit is the teacher, trainer, and comforter. Without you will be walking around amiss. When you are baptized with the Holy spirit you are saying yes to his will. W/o the Holy spirit what separates you from the world? Nothing...When you receive Jesus your life is no longer your own. When you receive satan, your life is no longer yours either. The difference is that Satan forces you, God gives you a choice, When you serve satan it is for evil, and God for good.

The baptizing of the Holy Spirit is not for us to be blessed. The only reason for the baptizing of the Holy Spirit is to give us power to, " Spread the gospel of the coming kingdom of God, and the good news of the cross, which is that Jesus died and rose again, to bring salvation to a fallen world. "

The baptizing, and the filling of the Holy Spirit are two different things. The baptizing takes place at ones conversion. It is a one time thing, and it seals you as the property of Jesus Christ. The filling of the Holy Spirit, is something you have to ask for as needed. We pray to renew the Holy Spirit in us every morning, because we want our spirit to be joined with the Holy Spirit each day. Some people do not do this, we do because we want to live and work in the will of God for the remaining days of our lives. And it would be a great thing for you to feel this way also.

God be with you,

Because without the Spirit, you cannot grow in knowledge. I think that people tend to underestimate and be blind to the actions of the Holy Spirit. They are unaware of His influence. I wouldn't even care about God unless the Holy Spirit was involved! I might be a Christian one day, and not give it a second thought the next day.

The Spirit is essential to my Christian life. I can understand scripture because of Him. I was drawn to Christianity because of Him in the first place!

I need anything that God gives me. I just hope that I never forget it.

HOLY SPIRIT - The third person in the Godhead

RESPONSIBILITY - Hebrews 16:13 - But when the spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on his own initiative; but whatsoever he hears, he will speak; and he will disclose to you what is to come.

Hebrews 14:26 - But the helper; the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance...

...Salvation ensures eternal Life

Baptism with the Holy Spirit gives the Life meaning and purpose

I look at it this way...
...one could be a clock collector, for example, and have all sorts of beautiful clocks from all over the world adorning your living space, but if they can't "tell time", what good are they ?

Incorporated into Christ by Baptism, the person baptized is configured to Christ. Baptism seals the Christian with the indelible spiritual mark (character) of his belonging to Christ. No sin can erase this mark, even if sin prevents Baptism from bearing the fruits of salvation. Given once for all, Baptism cannot be repeated.
Baptism constitutes the foundation of communion among all Christians, including those who are not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church: "For men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in some, though imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. Justified by faith in Baptism, [they] are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church." "Baptism therefore constitutes the sacramental bond of unity existing among all who through it are reborn."
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."
Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord's will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the Church herself, which we enter by Baptism.
