Here is a quote from a question asking about belief in the end of the world:

"This question keeps popping up a lot lately. YES! it's coming and again, it'll either be 2018 or 2037 based on solid biblical and extra biblical evidence. I just wish it would happen sooner."

I honestly don't get this. The whole "solid biblical and extra biblical evidence" thing aside, lots of people seem to eagerly anticipate this. From my experience the ones who look forward the most tend to mention how tortured the unbelievers will be. I simply so not understand the desire to see so many people tortured eternally. It also seems incongruent with Christ's love. If anyone would care to take a stab at the motivator for this apocalyptic mentality, or the concept of infinite punishment for finite sins, I'd really like to hear your answer.

It's hatred, pure and simple. These nuts hate people who don't bolster their ridiculous beliefs by going along with them, and salivate like rabid dogs at the prospect of atheists (and others) being punished for not blindly following. They don't want doubts or questions to rear their ugly heads; they want immortality and to live in some castle in the sky with Bible-god.

The best thing is to be WITH God.
Not just knowing about God.
Or maybe having some first hand experience.

Being with Him is the ultimate thing.
Every thing else pales in comparison.

Billions of people have died already and are doomed to Hell.
Many billions who are alive today will be going there soon (the Bible says that most will not make it).

Christ loves us, and so He has warned us what will happen to those who reject His salvation. They have the power to decide where they will spend eternity.

Make the right choice now, for you know not when it will be to late!

You are correct in saying many have a selfish desire for the 'end of the world'.
The Bible makes clear there will be an 'end' of sorts.
Not the planet, not even all of humankind.
Just the end of wickedness.
It is strange that some put dates on this event.
We both know the Bible doesn't give one.
At best, Jesus said we would recognize the 'season'.
Too many are hoping for PERSONAL justification, when in truth, its about God and Him setting things straight.

Perhaps you haven't heard that the Watchtower Society "invites careful and critical examination of its [publications'] contents in the light of the Scriptures." (The Watchtower August 15, 1950, p. 263) Perhaps you haven't heard their claims: "So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ...This 'prophet' was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a 'prophet' of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record. What does it show?" (The Watchtower, April 1, 1972, p. 197) It is not an expression of "hatred," nor is it persecution when others claim that Jehovah's Witnesses are a false religion or a cult. "It is not a form of religious persecution for anyone to say and to show that another religion is false. It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false religion and true religion. To make a public exposure of false religion is certainly of more value than exposing a news report as being untrue; it is a public service instead of a religious persecution and it has to do with the eternal life and happiness of the public." (The Watchtower, November 15, 1963, p. 688) We are merely taking the Watchtower Society up on its offer to critically examine their publications and their prophetic record, which according to the organization itself is a "public service." We are also admonished in the Bible to "contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints." (Jude 1:3) The Watchtower Society promotes a different Jesus, a false gospel, and distorts the faith once for all handed down to the saints. We are trying to reach out in love to individual Jehovah's Witnesses (who, btw, are NOT our enemy) to let them know that they are being deceived by a man-made organization.

In the end the Gospel gets published & preached in all nations. And the Spirit of God is poured on all nations. That is a good thing & Gods blessing on all nations.

But then the rapture happens & that is a good thing for those who are redeemed. But not good for those left behind.

But then is the Reign of Jesus Christ for 1000 years. So? End of the world or End of this age?

When Jesus Reigns no one dies. A lot of good is promised to those who love God.

Christians are very scary to me, they live only for their "reward" that art in heaven. The Christians look at the Muslims as crazy and they both dwell on death and the afterlife. That's what makes them all so dangerous, the strong conviction that this life is meaningless in comparison to an afterlife. Those beliefs make murder and martyrdom reasonable acts if it appeases their God and gets them closer to their eternal reward.

I asked in R&S, " who among you would die for your faith" the answers told me all I'd ever need to know about Christians.
