The correct word is dyed. Some of the oranges go through a wash which has a coloring rinse cycle. In the industry they call it de-greening.

Well, mine are usually a nasty brownish or fuzzy blue when they die, but I understand that some (many?) oranges are colored (or "dyed") orange to make them more appealing to consumers. Same thing as coloring the meat red to make sure people don't realize it's a bit off, or putting a nice glossy coating on the apples to make them more attractive (or for that matter, putting make-up, fingernail polish and hair-dye on women for the same purpose). It's all part of the game; if you want to be picked, you've got to stand out, even if it means cheating...

Yes. Some oranges ripen without turning completely orange, so they dye then orange to make them look good.

they are actually picked unripe green and then dosed with ethylene to ripen(not turn natural orange once off the tree) and then painted orange.

who killed the oranges?
They hit them with ethylene gas, a natural plant hormone and welding gas, to ripen them.
Dont know about dyes, but i wouldnt be surprised. But they must be good at it, because I have never seen any evidence of it. you would think you would see blotches or dye on the inside of the skin.
but who knows....

I have never heard of that!!! If so, it wouldn't matter, as oranges get peeled.
Good luck and may God bless you.

oh ya. there are so many ways in market to look their product good and sale. Wheather its food or cloth or any thing else.
They give injections to food to ripe them quickly, they die them... spray nasty chemicals to keep them fresh for long time.
