I see there`s another in the newspapers today.
Why do they do it?
The question is: Is it against all religions to do that?

Actually I haven't seen a news report yet about a priest who is a pedophile. I have seen reports about a small number of priests who are homosexuals, and who have made sexual advances toward adolescent boys - just as many non-clerical homosexuals do. But the secular press like to use the term "pedophile" because (1) it produces a stronger emotional response in unknowledgeable readers, and (2) it avoids casting homosexuality, one of the golden calves of the liberal secular media, in a negative light. Given that all men are sinners, and that all priests are men, it is hardly surprising that a small number of priests (just about the same percentage as in any other group of men) are homosexuals who give into temptations of this kind. In fact it would be unbelievable if no men in such a large group (50,000 priests in the USA) committed such sins.

Obviously such sins have nothing to do with priestly celibacy since (1) voluntarily abstaining from heterosexual sex doesn't make a man homosexual; (2) the other 99% of priests are also celibate and have no such problems; (3) marriage doesn't cure homosexuality; (4) the vast majority of child molestors, both heterosexual and homosexual, are married men; (5) the priests who commit such sins/crimes are the very ones who would not marry even if allowed to, since they are homosexuals.

priests, vicars, etc are just men and they can sin just like us. Does that make it right - no. Should we hold them to a higher standard because they are priests, yes. Should we condone the whole church because of their actions, I don't think so.

The church is taking a very active stance on this issue to protect our children and is trying to correct the mistakes that have been made. This is not an easy process and we should continue to pray for all the victims. And we should continue to pray for all our priests, etc - because they are only human. Becoming a priest, etc does not mean that you stop being human.

Pedophiles will find any way they can to access children, It is everywhere not only the Catholic Church, And yes it is against religions to do it, but as I always say people always will do what they want regardless of the laws saying not to do it.

it is certainly against God and the christian faith to do that. but in the catholic faith as priest can not marry unfortunatly to many are drawn towards the boys they work with. it is a sin and needs to be stamped out not hidden by the church,

Pedophiles look for jobs that give them easy access and authority over children, and easy trust from adults. The job of pastor/priest/etc. was tailor made for their needs.

If it is I'm sure they don't care. and if its not the more reason they feel they have a sign from God that they can molest children.
