The temperatures globally rises much faster then the temperatures in the U.S. The temperatures in the U.S. is probably linked to the temperature of the North Atlantic Ocean. It transfers, throw the thermohaline conveyer belt, a lot of heat from the tropics to the U.S. on its way to the North pole. This congruity is predicted in climate models and may explain why the temperatures in the U.S. are not following the same patterns as much of the world.

Mr Jello, this is information regarding climate change, not a guilt finding game.

I think North American weather is tied to the Pacifuc current, which runs toward our coast, and the winds from the west.

I find weather travels west to east mostly.

It depends on where you are, but if global temps rise, they rise in the USA too!

Temperature threatens areas near but outside (for now) dessert areas...whether it's the Gobi dessert overseas, or Death Valley in the US.

The temperature change is not the only weather effect.

When ice glaciers melt into the sea, the water level rises, and low lying areas barely above sea level are endangered, for example.

To sum up, it's complicated, and the danger depends on local windows of vulnerability.

According to the ancient Maya who had the most accurate calendar in the world, even better than we have today, the end of the world will be around 2012. If I am right(in my opinion)when the Ross Ice Shelf breaks off around 2012 that will essentially be the end of the world for everyone including the U.S. as all the oceans in the world and all the rivers will rise 47 to 50 feet when this gigantic ice berg melts and there will be nothing anyone can do about it. So while the rest of the world is affected by global warming now, by 2012 everyone shall know what the effects have actually caused.

In other words, if Americans feel uncomfortable about the heat, they should just think about what there doing to the rest of the world, right?

Sorry, the GISS lost its objectivity when Dr. Hansen took $250,000.00 to endorse John Kerry's presidential campaign. Ever wonder what the quid pro quo was for that one?
