any liquid has to be less than 100ml amd has to be packed in a plastic, see-through bag that you can pull out of your carry-on when going through security.
If you pack it in your checked luggage, it can be any size you want.. and I have apcked aerosols many times with no problems. (although some people say they might explode in your suitcase at high elevation..mine never have)
You won't be carrying aerosols in your carry-on because none of those are less than 100ml.

Put all your tolietries in your suitcase including perfume and aftershave, they give you a little plastic bag to put any liquid make up in but to save all the hassle just put in your suitcase as well. You are not allowed to take any drinks through passport control either. If you have a baby they make you taste the babys milk, just too make sure that they're are no substances in their that shouldn't be. This is also regulation if you're travelling within the United Kingdom and Ireland.
