yes, take it to the vet.

there are many types of worms, including hook, whip, round, tape.. and others.

a vet can check under a microscope for specific parasite issues.

if your cat has hookworms and you treat it with a general wormer, it may not help... sometimes you need to give different wormers for specific infestations.

hook and whipworms attach themselves to the intestinal walls. All parasites compete with the host animal for food/nutrients, which can in some cases, lead to death.

also, it is uncomfortable and even painful for the animal who has the worms.

it's best to have a thorough check, especially if you don't know the cat's history.

mackarel won't do anything, except make the cat happy. LOL

No - your cat really needs worm medication. Worms can be very serious - you need a wormer.

There is an old wive's tale about feeding them mackerel to rid them of worms. Never tried it though.

You can give raw garlic for them, however depending on the type of parasite, it may not be affective the only safe way is having the cat's fecal matter tested.
