Jesus died for our sins as a perfect human being to compensate for what Adam the only other perfect human being willingly gave up. Yes Jesus knew what he had to do for us to be saved, but he loved mankind so much he wanted to do this, he even prayed to God to give him strength. And Jesus is not God, It would not make sense for God to lower himself to human form, then die. God can make anything happen and he doesn't need to make a sacrifice for humans on the earth. All sacrifices are made to God. Jesus is God's son.
*Edit - and even though Jesus said he has the keys to Hades means that he has the power to resurrect people back from the dead (like the account of resurrecting Lazurus), not that he went to hell and fought with the devil for the keys.

Jesus did not know he was going to be ressurected. This is why he cried out "My God, My God, why have you foresaken me?"
He did not become God until he was ressurected and ascended into Heaven. Then he became manifested with the Holy Spirit.
This is where the Trinity comes in.
(Father, Son & Holy Spirit)
I and my Father are ONE." --Jesus Christ, John 10:30
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7

Jesus is the 'Seed of the Woman' who was prophecied of in Genesis 3:15. He defeated the serpents deception & the curse of death.
Jesus Is 100% man too. And like the first Adam before the fall. He was tempted in the wilderness like the first Adam, yet didn't sin.
Jesus is an innocent man tortured to death on the cross. This is mans worst sin. To torture to death innocent. Jesus bore our sins on the cross. He Is the Lamb of God without blemish.
Jesus died & took the keys from death & hell. Because He Is without sin, death couldn't keep Him (in His humanity) in the grave. If Jesus had sinned, then He would have failed the mission.
The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life. Through one mans fall, death reigned. By ones mans righteousness, all can receive eternal life through faith in Him.
Jesus is our High Priest forever because He suffered the cross for us in obedience to God. Because He Is without sin, He raised from the dead victorious over death for us. Not for Himself. Only so we who believe in Him will raise up like Him at resurrection day complete.

The purpose of coming back to life was to defeat death. Death came into the world through sin. Death was not part of God's original plan.
The point of His death was to pay the price for man's sin. He was the perfect sacrifice. man could not do it on his own.

God resurrected Jesus - it was God's will to do it and Jesus death and resurrection is payment for our sin. It had to be accomplished because without Jesus we would be in our sin and have eternity without God. So having said all of this, there is a point - Jesus was resurrected and so shall we be - we will have resurrection and have Heaven as our eternal home - that is the point. Blessings dear one. I pray you find Truth - Jesus Christ - He is so good.

Clearly that can't have been enough. All of humanity deserves to suffer in hell for eternity, yet one man suffers for a few hours and stays dead for three days (which was more like 40 hours) and that's enough to make up for it?
And come on, I'm sure Jesus had far better pain tolerance than most of us, what with being God and all...

everything that Jesus did was for a purpose, to fulfill prophecies and accomplish the fullness of each thing He did.
During the three days he descended into hell and fought Satan and won the keys to death and hell from him and rose again on Sunday morning.
Even His resurrection was a powerful thing. The image on the shroud of Turin is similar to that caused by an open air nuclear explosion. The only thing the researchers could compare it to were the images left on the sidewalks at Hiroshima.

The point is that He overcame death. Only Jesus could do that. And man can only do that WITH Jesus.
And yes, "Devoted to God," Jesus DID know He would overcome death. He always knew who He was.
You need to read His Word more ;-)

its because God cannot die and he sent his son which is a part of him to "die" for everyones sins so we have a choice to go to heaven. because if he didn't the world would have destroied itself and everyone would have gone to hell. and when he did die the sky turned black and a earthquake tore the temple in half and the people who doubted realized what they had done and how he surely was the son of God and when her came back from the dead it was even more proof he was God when he went to his deciples and talked to them n stuff.

Jesus gave up his HUMAN life.
If Jesus ever became HUMAN again, it would be like taking back that offering.
BTW Jesus is not God. He relied on God to bring him back as a spirit creature, as he was before he came to earth as a human.
