You could build on that 'paw' behavior by getting him to touch different things with his paw. Training great, Bob Bailey, has trained many kinds of animals to do different things - according to the system he has helped to perfect, what you need is a bunch of treats that your dog absolutely loves, a marker signal ("Yes!" or a click) and a great sense of timing. Decide before you start what you want the behavior to be - if you want your dog to touch your foot with his paw, then you might start that session kneeling down low and cuing for 'paw' with your hand down low, next to your foot. But. Don't actually _say_ "Paw" - *just* hold out your hand. Reward your dog for touching your hand with his paw, which he should get pretty fast since it's roughly the same behavior as before, just in a different place. Your dog will probably 'get' this in just 3 or 4 repetitions.
Move your hand to the top of your foot and reward him for continuing to touch it.
Then, start to move your hand back so that more of your foot is exposed. Aha! Your dog is bound to hit your foot with his paw - even if it's an accident. Reward that, and then end the session. Play with your dog.
The next time you train this, start once again with your hand on top of your foot - and continue where you left off. When your hand is out of the picture, reward!
If your dog sees your hand moving, and tries to move around to still target your hand, just move your hand back to your foot. Stop rewarding him for hitting your hand, though, when he's touched your foot. Be clear and only reward that foot touch.
Clicker training works great for teaching tricks and is a great intro to learning more. Try a Google search for "101 Things To Do With a Box" and see how your dog likes playing that game. Have fun!

You can teach him to bring in the newspaper. Tell him "Get the paper" and take him to the newspaper, pick it up and put it in his mouth. Praise him. Walk back to your door, calling the dog to come with you. If he drops the paper, repeat the command and put it back into his mouth. and praise. As he starts to walk with you again praise him. Don't give him any time to start chewing it if he drops it, just replace it in his mouth as quickly as you can. When you get to the door, you can use the command "Give" or something appropriate for you to remember and take it gently from him, again praising.
"Leave it" is also a very good command to teach your dog. This comes in handy for items that he should not have or when he wants to check out other dogs, interesting smells, unidentifiable food etc. You should say it in a stern, gruff voice so he knows it is a definate command and jerk him away from the object quickly befor he has a chance to get it. Then again lots of praise every time he looks away or moves away from the object.
We also use the "Up" command when we want our dog to jump into the back of the car, get onto the weighing scales at the vets, or just put his paws on my shoulder and dance. You need to put the dogs front paws on the item you want him to get up onto and then we tap it and tell the dog "Up". You might also have to lift his bottom off the ground to give him the idea he has to jump. Again lots of praise when he does it. Have fun!

i like the command or trick "sit pretty"
Its another word for a dog sitting down then lifting its front up so its sorta like begging. What u do is tell ur dog to sit then hover a treat over his head and tell him to stay. He'll try to go backwards, resulting in sitting up and leaning backwards.

There are just TONS and TONS of things a dog can learn....so much, we just can't answer this question!

Of course, MOST important is "come" and "stay"...for dog's safety!!!

Patience, consistency

Get books, get videos...if you get a pup, plan to take it to training classes. Great socialization, quality time spent with your dog, and you will learn a lot of how to be the trainer of your dog

I tought my little Daisy to "Play Dead". She will roll over onto her back and look like a dead bug by the postion she is in. First, I roll her over onto her back, and say, clearly, "Play Dead." I do this repetadly and give her a little peice of a treat after each one to keep her focused on me and make her wanna do this. If your dog gets bored or restless, stop. Try another day, prefably the next day so she remembers. If she does it on her own by command, prasie her BIG TIME. Rub her all over and give har a treat. Make a big deal out of it. This gets her excited and willing. She will start to remember.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Now Daisy thinks of "Play Dead" as a belly rub. :)

It's too wordy to give you instructions here, so I recommend you do a google search for dog training and visit some of the sites that give free training tips.
