Agreed.
Those parts of the Bible that should not be taken literally make it very clear that its speaking symbolically.
Examples are the book of Daniel and Revelation ....and sometimes its just so obvious.
I am encouraged to see you mention the 'theme' of the Bible.
Thank you.
Most don't know it has a theme, never mind what it might be.
However, as you say, when one appreciates the theme, one has greater insight.

Some of Scripture is written in allegorical/symbolic language.

And there are several themes that run through the Bible. The problem here is that people base their understanding from their own perspective.

If one has a legalistic perspective, they read the law into everything, and interpret everything from that perspective.

One of the main themes of Scripture is faith.

It may help you to look into how and when the bible was first put together and by who. I don't think one can truly get a feel for the bible without knowing its origins.

You need to take it literally. It is Truth - and there is no other. The Holy Bible is "God breathed" but penned by men. If you are saved and the Holy Spirit comes to abide within you, you will be able to discern and interpret the Bible with new spiritual eyes. Blessings dear one.

But the Bible is the unchanging word of God, isn't it? If so, then it must be perfect in its morality. Otherwise, the Bible's imperfections equal God's imperfections.
