I do not believe in God, however, I feel that the illusion of God, in this way, is partially a test. "They" want to determine whether people really can follow teachings; in this case, "they" is society. Also, God may've decided to enforce rules that go against our nature to see who will truly follow him, despite the great effort it would take to do so.

Human nature is quite prone to "sin," and therefore, people scare others into following their rules by saying that, if you do not, you will burn in Hell. And what do you know; it works--terrified of not believing in God and following his teachings, some people simply follow him to avoid pain and suffering in Hell.

Don't you mean God defined sin as everything in human nature? If sin was everything against our nature, we would never sin, because it would be against our nature.

At any rate, to address the intention of your question: If one believes in God, and that he designed sin as a way of testing our dedication to an ethical and moral ideal, then God must define it as those actions which we pursue at our most selfish. Since we have free will, we have the ability to act outside of our nature, and thus transcend our own frailty.

You are wrong. Sin in the Hebrew can mean either "going out of bounds" or "missing the mark". The boundaries and the mark are set by God. Therefore, sin is against God's nature, not ours.

It's a puzzle, Human element/ Spritual element isn"t it? Also a challenge, A circle to second guess God! If God is with us who can be against us? I just hang on to what works for me, check my motives, and try to the right thing, Do we always know what that is, Not fully, But peace with in my gut, tells me it's okay. Blessings

I'm not sure I follow you. I mean, murder and bestiality are defined by God as sins. Do you think that this behavior is part of our human nature? To murder and to have sexual intimacy with animals? If that is so, we are, of all creatures, most to be pitied.

Have a star and enjoy the words of Slayer:
"Corruption breeds the pedophile
Don't pray for the priest
Confession finds the lonely child
God preys on the weak
You think your soul can still be saved
I think you're ______ miles away
Scream out loud here's where you begin
Forgive me father for I have sinned"

Religion makes people crazy. If you obsess over your life being controlled by Satan you are sure to put a bullet in your head.

I mean HOW HARD can it be to control yourself?

Really, it's not that bad those 60 - 70 years of trial and error...every 10 years or so temptations change...keeps you spiritually young and humble.

Puts hair on your chest! Makes you strong and healthy. Helps you become a man...or woman.

very silly, I think Paul did most of the self flagellation in the bible, paragraphs upon paragraphs on the sins of the flesh not so much God, God didn't write anything in the bible. Blessings

Not really...listen to what you are saying.....sin is AGAINST human nature...He doesn't want us to go against our human nature...don't mis-interpret what society dictates and what God dictates as "human nature" we make mistakes because we are human, we don't go on rampaging killing sprees because we are human...
