A Christian is one who believes in God and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord whom He gave to us to redeem us. A Christian is a follower of Christ and as such, follows his commandments of loving God above all else and to love one's neighbors as one loves himself.
What you described is probably a nominal Christian, i.e. one who calls himself a Christian but does not live according to the law of Christ. What you described is that very person that Christ tells us to be wary of - one who wears sheep clothing but inside he is ravening wolf. He is the classical case of the devil quoting scripture to promote his selfish materialistic purpose. Tell this to that person the next time he takes your money when he next preaches to you.

Hey, Mr D, I'm incline to agree with you, except those are the false teachers the Bible warns us about. They are deceived by the devil into thinking they are right. But I am on to them, I don't give them my time or money. I do that at my local church, where if something I think is wrong, I can voice an opinion and get something done about it.

How sad for you! A true Christian is a person who follows the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father. This person is saved by Jesus, asking for His forgiveness, asking Him to save me from myself and my sinful ways - turning my life wholeheartedly over to Him and asking Him to fill me with His Holy Spirit - that is true Christianity. For me it is anyone who except Jesus Christ as the Son off God,and strives to follow his word on an regular basis.Treat others like you would like to be treated.Love your neighbor like yourself type thing.Who is your neighbor?Anybody you come in contact with in your daily live in any shape or form.
