They are discriminated against because they don't have a card with a ss number on it and papers stating that they are citizens. They come here to work and to get a better life for their families just like the irish and italians. citizens say they dont want them here because they are taking the jobs of citizens but mexicans do the jobs that citizens wont do. cleaning toilets, mowing your lawn, cleaning dog s***, etc. They do all the dirty work and contribute to the U.S. economy. Im not trying to be racist but when have you seen a black, or a white person cleaning toilets. mowing lawns, or doing all the dirty nasty work?? I havent. They also pay taxes when they buy things from the store dont they?? If they can't be legal its because the government makes it hard for them to be legal. I am a U.S. citizen from immigrant parents and they both are hard working and have came to this country to have better opportunities that they could only dream about in Mexico.if they would of never came to this country, I wouldnt even be born and i wouldn't have what i have now. if what is wanted is for immigration to stop, then the Mexican government needs to reform. the mexicans wouldn't be coming to America if they didnt have it bad in mexico. If the mexican govt. was just as the U.S govt, then there would be no reason for the people to immigrate to this country. Why don't the British escape to America?? because their country has a good government. It is the same thing with mexico. The people dont have a good government and cant make enough money to support their families. So they come to America. The land of opportunities.
Best Wishes. Hope this helps.

Difference between the Irish and Italian immigrants of a 100 years ago and the mostly Mexican illegal aliens of today is that the Irish and Italians in general followed the immigration laws of the USA and the Mexican illegal aliens do not.

A Country has a right to enforce its laws, a Mexican who immigrates legally to this country and follows our laws earns nothing but my respect, as all legal immigrants earn

The major difference between immigration in the past and today is that we needed people to help settle the land - we don't need that now. And the last huge wage of immigration did cause a lot of problems, which is why it was curtailed down to 200,000 a year in 1922 or 1923. We did not get a vote on the 1965 immigration law change.

It is not just Mexican - we are being bombarded from every third world country on the planet.

I am one of the ones that thinks legal immigration should also be stopped. But the ones who say it is okay if it is legal get mad when they talk about an amnesty - they are just trying to make it legal since people say legal is okay.

Nobody like scabs.

I have been pondering this phemomenon since it arose 2 years ago. But, in most cases, it isn't about race, color, or age. It's about being a legal citizen of the USA. Legal USA citizen pay taxes. We are not just paying taxes for ourselves, but we are also paying taxes for ALL the other illegal Asians, Mexicans, Russians, Canadians, Europeans, and others that enter this country illegally.
The reason the media and press have pinpoint their camera's at the Mexicans, is because hundreds of illegal mexicans cross the boarder into the USA in broad daylight And that, that, is another hundred billion dollars of taxes we have to pay each year..

I think that you are right in some ways. The immigrants from Europe were hated mainly because in the bigger cities you had many areas that were very segregated to that type of immigrant and remember those were legal immigrants, but they did compete for jobs and during a time in which the economy wasn't good and even low paying jobs were good to have. The legal immigrants from Mexico serve a very good and useful purpose and we will always have them The illegals burden the system and hold the wage rate down somewhat. I also think that the stigma that people don't like is not quickly working to learn english.

It all comes down to...I don't care who you are, if you are here for the right reasons...but coming here legally is the only way. I believe that illegal "anyones" should be promptly deported. Apply for entrance like the Irish and Italians you mentioned...many of them came through Ellis Island and did it correctly!!!!!!! Racism is an unfortunate flaw that pokes out from every culture around the globe. I judge a person upon who they are and not what they are. You are either nice or not and I have formed many relationships accordingly.

Yes, of course it's popular. It's not like you can tell by looking who is legal and who isn't but people claim that all the time.

The newest wave of immigration may have to do with the fact that US toy companies moved manufacuturing to Mexico after the NAFTA agreement in 1994. Then, when China joined the World trade Organization in 2001, the manufacturing jobs in Mexico largely moved to China.

And outsourcing manufacturing is a bigger threat to US jobs than immigration. The same people that are screaming about immigration are perfectly willing to buy toys made in China, buy cheap goods at Walmart and support the employers right to treat workers any way they like.

You have it wrong.. It is NOT about hispanics. It is about the flood of illegal aliens entering the country constituting a huge drain on our benefits.

Those most in need of benefits of the system will suffer first and most if that 'flood' is not stopped. There is a limit to the system's largesse.

Most of us have no quarrel with the immigration system and laws as they exist - we need no 'new' laws - just enforcement of existing ones. And constant accusations of 'racial' bias serve only to cloud the real issue. It might be well for those who use that false premise to ask the question: Should the United States Of America take in the entire world's problems?

You meant to say "Problems with Illegal Aliens?" Immigration has the connotation of Legal Entry into a country something Illegal Aliens don't want and don't care about.

You know we can always find examples to fulfill our expectations. So, I'm sure that you can find people who hate Mexicans. I can only tell you that I'm opposed to amnesty because I see unlimited immigration or open borders as a threat to the working class people of this country. And, if we allow the government to do it now, it will not stop until the standard of living in the US is as low as that of Mexico.
My labor is a commodity in this capitalist system. The value of my labor is diminished by the unfair and unlimited influx of cheap labor from Mexico. It is basic supply and demand. Fewer workers means higher wages for the workers. Don't ask the middle class working person to cut their own throat by
giving the government the ok to import an unlimited supply of cheap labor.

i'd just like to say that the time, energy, and money used to prosecute ALL illegal immigrants could be used for other important things this country needs. like instead of building the wall on the border and any other methods to send back immigrants, we should instead focus on security and reform in the u.s.
you're also right when it comes to the popularity the illegals (mainly mexicans) in hating them.
