I would choose Virgin Atlantic or British Airways.

NOT UNITED!!!
But the BEST airlines would be: Continental or American if it's a US airline. Virgin Atlantic is better than BA (although I've found BA to be good too). Of course it depends on where in the USA you're going....

I flew from Glasgow to the US on American with no problems. However, whatever you do, NOT NORTHWEST. They have always been crappy, and once we almost got run off the runway by a jumbo jet.
