If they are asking for money it is a scam since no employer in Canada asks applicants to submit any type of payment to be considered for a job. In addition, be aware of "employment agencies" which charge you money to locate jobs. They often just send out lists easily available for free on the internet. Check out the hotel website (there are probably several "Plaza Hotels" in Canada) and see if they have an employment section but find the website yourself. Be wary of links in some ads (especially from "agencies")since, as most internet users know, they may not be real.

This is a well documented scam. There is no Plaza hotel in Ottawa. And if there was, they would not recruit by sending out bulk email to Asia and Africa looking to recruit foreign workers as cleaners, night clerks and waitresses at $50,000 USD a year.

Check this link.

They ask for a resume. Then if you respond they say they will do all the work, you just have to pay them the immigration fees. Once they have parted you from your money, there is no more contact.

Which "plaza hotel"? Where? Probably not a scam if it is a cooking job. We are pretty hard up for chefs just like the rest of the world. My husband imigrated to Canada as a chef.

Also what website did you see it on and where are you from?
