Yeah, right, there isn't a single person in New York who cares about global warming. That sounds alot like "every scientist in the world believes in man made global warming."

These generalizations are silly.

I agree that it seems hard to see changes happening. Every time I see an SUV on the road I am reminded how many people are careless when it comes to Global Warming, yet there is hope. Here is a great story specifically about New York. Read the story and then go out and "plant one tree"-I bet it isn't as easy as you think.

New York City's Small Carbon Footprint

New York released details of its carbon inventory Friday, and its emissions were just under one percent of the nation's, with about 2.7 percent of the national population of 300 million. That means the city emits only about one-third as much as the rest of the nation does on average, mostly because of its strong city and metro region public transit.
The Big Apple's mixed-use zoning, allowing businesses and residents and retail to occupy the same neighborhoods, also contributed to its low-carbon output, as people have no-carbon options besides public transit--you can actually walk or bike to get things done and to go punch the clock.

Actually, New York is one of the ten greenest cities in the country. The New York City mayor recently announced that all taxi cabs will be hybrids by 2012, earning 36 miles per gallon instead of 14 on the old taxis.

It's not really that simple. Most of the pollution comes from industry and factory farming, not from cars and hairspray (which, by the way, no longer contains CFCs so it's as benign as any other product in a bottle). If you really want to make a difference, be a responsible consumer and tell the companies that pollute that you won't support them as long as they continue to do so.

People probably do care but just don't do anything. It's a big problem and we have to take big steps to cure it. People aren't going to give up their cars or reduce their driving speeds unless something happens to them that'll make them change their minds

You're right. New York is a very, very liberal state. It's been proved that the more liberal an area is, the less they care about pollution.

Maybe they'll elect more republicans someday.
