I'm serious by the way.

A mate of mine accidentally took a sip of vodka thinking it was a glass of water at a party. He is Muslim and was absolutley devestated that he drank alcohol, as it is against Allah's wishes.

He really was traumatised. Fair enough, I told him, but he shouldn't be so hard on himself because it was an accident and he didn't intentionally drink the alcohol....then I remembered...he was on pills at the time...

So is he allowed to do this is Islamic terms? He seemed to think ecstacy is fine with Allah, but i'm not so sure it would be

thanks everyone. Has anyone got a Qu'ran quote I can throw at him to get him off the ecstacy?

By the way, I personally think religions are nonsense but I wanna know if either

a) My mate doens't even understand the religion he is supposed to be following, so he just follows cos he thinks he should

or

b) Islam allows ecstacy but not alcohol

For once, Qu'ran quotes (not loads!!) would be good to back anything up

Furthermore, I don't care if people take ecstacy, that's their choice. I'm just uneasy about religious double-standards

This question is actually a rather complex one. One person's symptoms of withdrawal (even if it was just last night) might not match another person's symptoms. Normally, your heart rate isn't still as high as it was while you were peaking the high but keep in mind that the drugs have not completely exited your system. You need to keep extremely hydrated and monitor the symptoms for a bit longer. Although I am sure this is not what you want to hear, you need to seek medical help. You NEVER know if the drug you took was from a good batch or not and you could be risking your life. If you chose not to seek medical help, use the previous information I have given you and wise judgement. Good luck..

If I understand my Muslim friends correctly, Allah disapproves of anything that alters the perception of reality for recreational purposes.

Alcohol falls in this category. Drugs as well. So, Ecstasy is a big no-no in Islam, as it definitely alters the user's mental state.

However, the ban against alcohol has a exception clause. Alcohol is accepted when used for medicinal uses. ONLY.

In Islamic terms... ecstasy is NOT fine with Allah.

Wow...
First of all, vodka smells a LITTLE different than water...so boo on your friend for being not so bright.
Secondly, a second boo on your friend for having a moral code so out of whack. What religion could possibly think that drugs are fine, but a drink is horrible.
I'm not a supporter of Islam, but I'd at least assume it the respect to be smarter than that.

Oh, and Mr. R.....Catholicism is a form of Chrisitianity. In fact, it was the first form of Christianity (even if you don't want to admit it)

I'm not islamic, so I don't know for sure. But honestly, if your religion preaches against use of alcohol, I'm thinking drugs are out of the question and anyone who interprets it differently is pretty much just playing with semantics.

Any thing and every thing is fine with Allah.as long as every body takes responsibility for himself. If your friend says Ecstacy has approval of Allah but not Vodka,so be it.Tell me,how many hard nuts one can crack in his life time and to what end? They keep breeding at the fastest recorded birth rate.Again,so be it.Don't take it seriously.

any thing that harms your body is not allowed in islam. so ecstacy as a drug has major negative impacts on human body so is not allowed..
also tell your friend to ease up.. if he had no intention to consusme alcohol and has done so by mistake.. he should only ask for forgiveness and he will not be punished for something he has not done knowingly..

Look. I know you're very close to your religion and everything, but the God I believe in is more forgiving than that.

If you believe God/Allah (its the same thing!) doesn't want you drinking alcohol, then your friend has done wrong. The point is he can be forgiven.

But you must admit the whole thing is a bit crazy when you get certain people (only a tiny minority I must add) who believe God wants them to blow other people up, but gets livid if they were to touch a drop of alcohol!!

No, that's what many people think that it's only alcohol that is banned and things like marujana are fine. However if you read the verse it says intoxicants, and drugs are intoxicants:

"O ye who believe! intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination of Satan’s handiwork; eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper."
[Qur’an 5:90]
