An error in judgement is different than a sin. For a sin to be commited there has to be inention. For example if a man where to cheat on his wife, he would have to take active role on the situation, thus it won't be an error of judgement.
Sins did not invent religion. Quite the oposite. Every religion has a similar moral code with dogmatic differences, but the definition of sin is almost the same to them: Any action/behavior that is harmful to any person (including yourself) that is done in consius state of mind.

You didn't invent the religion. It has been around for much longer than America.
But too, I do not recall ever seeing the word "error or mistake" in the Bible. It was all classified as a sin.
I guess the comparison is to what is perfect and what is less than perfect. Only perfection would be acceptable.

Errors in judgment aren't as marketable as SIN® is.
Its like dandruff shampoo. Something like 12% of people ever have dandruff in their life. But some 30% buy dandruff shampoo. Its all about creating a fear and selling to it.

No one "picked a name out of a hat" to decide what to refer to them as. Call them what they are: sins. An error in judgement is not the same thing as sins. Sounds like trying to sweep them under the rug instead of taking responsibility for them.

You making a bad choice ...might be considered an error in judgement to you-- however just as it is a criminal offense to break mans law... it is a sin to break God's Law--- with or without religion.

Sin is not making a mistake. Sin is disobeying God, period. Religions weren't created to point out faults, but rather a bonding of people trying to obey God.

If it was not called a sin how would you know you made an error in judgement?

Sure I can see it can, You or anyone, rob a bank, shoot someone, steal a car, so on and so on and so on, Stand before a judge and tell them, "OH Sir I made an error in judgement", and see were you end up.

yes we do mess up no ones perfect. but they are sins we call them that becuz thats what they are called the bible tells us this. but there is no need to blow them out of proportion becuz GOd forgives sins a makes them seem like nothing to him. he wants us to ask for his forgivness becuz he wants us to relize that we have done wrong and sined. hes not punishing us jsut helping us see our mistakes so we will try not to do tehm again but when we do he understands after all we are only humans and the bible says we were born in to a world of sin and will there for sin. the way to not blow you sins out of proporion his to talk to GOd about them after you have done it not some one eles 1st, God 1st. when things blown up like that hes sending you a message "dont you think its time you talked to me about these sin" but hes not mean about it just trying to help you see.
