What sort of feeling do you have for those who wrote and compiled the Bible and the Koran? Do they share a place of honor with Homer and Shakespeare?

Although a catchy idea the bible is not very well written. There is no character development and it could use a much better editor. Those contradictions need to be weeded out. Also it is biased towards certain groups. I wouldn't put it up there with either Homer or Shakespeare.

Homer and Sahkespeare can never ever hold a candle next to those who wrote Scriptures of the Bible. The Koran is another help that God didn't need help with.
But all who wrote Scriptures in the Bible surely right now have a place of honor with God.

Bible is book containing revelations of prophet Moses and other prophets after him upto Jesus Christ. All these books suffered some changes as the Jewish community remained under the subjucation of Egyption Kings and christain were under the subjuctation of Jews and Romans.Quran was revealed over prophet Muhammad and is still having the unadultered text. There can be no comparison between the books written by human beings and those revealed by God due to the universality of message. What Homer and Shakespeare wrote was for transitory pursuits for a limited number of users whereas the revealed books were a larger number of users and more sublime pursuits i.e. for the purposes of making mankind to be at peace with God.

I liked the thoroughness of the redactor of Genesis and Exodus. He, she, or they included every version of the old mythologies, monotheistic and polytheistic.
The prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, etc.) were ranting lunatics.
The collector of Proverbs found a few gems.
Mark was a poor author, but did an adequate job fitting a standard-issue savior-god life story onto the otherwise lifeless idea of the Christ. Although he borrowed the story as well, he didn't plagiarize as much as Matthew, Luke, or John.
Paul was a prude.
The author of Revelation was on an early version of LSD.

The collectors and authors of the Koran had an opportunity to cover up the blatantly obvious source of some of the law by removing the special rules and exemptions Mohammed made for himself and his wives when dictating laws, but they failed to do so. As such, they left the book a laughably transparent testament to Mohammed's egomania.

None of the many authors were Homer level.

I have the utmost respect for the authors of the Holy Bible as God through the Holy Spirit wrote it.

The other books and authors mentioned are of this world. I have read them but they did not change my life.

Of course they will get what they deserve! It is clean and clear in every sentence they said what they intend to. If you find something contributing to your life why shouldn't we respect them? Anyway, they have made us think of something in common for human beings and they deserve a thanks!

Unless and until we get a Book that can beat the ideas of the Holy books and a universal lifestyle that entirely different from the portrayals of the said Holy books we will remain with them only. Bible gives contradictory ideas and persons so we have to be selective in every sentence!

Homer and Shakespeare, though wonderful writers, were not hand picked by GOD under inspiration to write HIS words; therefore they hold no candle to the bible writers.
