More than likely she just caught a cold from one of the animals where she was boarded. My cat had caught a cold when she was at a animal boarding place. I had to take her to the vet though because her eyes became infected as well and got very sick. The vet just gave a perscription for amxocillen and was better in about a week. For right now I would say your cat is fine. If she gets worse take her to a vet. Also wherever you board her it's possible to caught a cold if any of the other animals are carrying a virus.

Cat Sneezing After Boarding

There's obviously an upper respiratory infection at the breeder and you're cat was exposed.

The initial infection is a virus and antibiotics won't work on that. The secondary infections CAN be helped by antibiotics, but if you're lucky all your cats will clear up in 2 weeks without getting the secondary infections (which would show up as clear or cloudy or yellow snot that hangs ropey from the nostrils). Usually 2 weeks and it runs it's course but usually ALL the cats in the same household will have it one after the other.

If the secondary infection starts up, it's usually treated for 10 days with Clindamycin Hydrochloride drops, a liquid you give twice a day by eye dropper. (We're going through THAT right now with one of ours, I just got the lowdown on the stuff from the vet).

Take kitty to the vet and let him know that he has been boarded. It sounds like there is a respiratory infection at play. It may seem minor now, but left untreated it can become quite serious (and expensive to treat!).

You should let your breeder where he was boarded know about the situation, too. And for your next trip, is it possible to board with a vet? I'd definately look into another place to board or invest in a pet sitter. Cats are pretty self-sufficient and just need to be checked on once or twice a day for food, fresh water, and some good-lovin's. lol

I got a kitten from the local shelter and they didn't disclose it had an upper respiratory infection. When we brought it home, my other two cats started sneezing like crazy. (they are 8 and 13) the kitten didn't sneeze barely at all. We took all the cats to the vet and they said the kitten gave them a upper respiratory infection. I can't remember the name of the infection, but it's permanent. The sneezing went away for 2 of the cats but the 8 year old still sneezes all of the time and I give her medication. There's nothing we can do. It's horrible. Take your cat to the vet and don't take your cat back to that boarder!!! It could have permanent damage!

You need to have your cat checked at the vet for feline leukemia. If your cat is positive you can give it meds. that will help, but once you stop the meds. all symptoms will return. You need to talk to your vet to see what your options are. Your cat sneezing all over the place is not healthy for your cat or anyone else in your home. It is very stress full on your cat and can not be cured. Please have your cat tested!!

they should ahve seperated the original sick cat as cats get cold from each other. In the pound they seperate any cats with colds. You will need to take the cat to the vet as it needs medication for it to clear up/
