I was diagnosed by MRI after a car accident. My 12 y.o. has been complaining of headaches alot lately. Any info you can give me would be great.

No, a venous angioma is not hereditary. The exact cause is unknown but they have been proven to have no hereditary basis. People are, however, born with them. They do not develop later in life. It is a venous malformation.

You have had it since birth but since you had no symptoms, it didn't get picked up until you had the MRI. This is normal as most venous angiomas cause no symptoms and are usually picked up by a brain scan. Treatment is usually not recommended as treatment can lead to a stroke.

Venous angiomas can cause headaches but, since the person usually isn't aware they have an angioma, they think the headache is just a headache. The fact that your daughter has headaches is probably unrelated since venous angiomas are not hereditary.
