No, check out verse 5.
Matthew 12:1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, "Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath."
3 He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? 6 I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. 7 And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath."
Besides which, Christians are under the covenant of justification by grace through faith now and are not trying to be justified by keeping the ceremonial and sacrificial laws that were pointing to things like the rest believers could find in Jesus.
Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

When I was a kid, we lived in an area of the city with a lot of Orthodox Jews and some of my friends used to pick up spending money by doing things on the Sabbath [Saturday] that the Orthodox were forbidden to do...even turning on furnaces, picking up mail or carrying out trash was considered 'work'. In the Yiddish language, this type of odd-job person was called a "shabbas goy" [meaning a Sabbath Gentile]. The Orthodox were also not supposed to drive cars, so you'd see groups walking together to the Synagogue or Temple...all in those flat beaver hats for the men and scarves or other head-coverings on the women.

God rested on the seventh day. So we should too.
I worked for many years in part time jobs on the Sabbath but it was out of necessity because my full time job did not cover my expenses. But I began feeling a spirit of conviction in doing that on Sunday (Sabbath). So I cut back on my extracurricular activies and spending habits. Now I do not work on Sunday's. As a result I have more time to spend in prayer and meditation. My overall mood is much better as well.

You can "keep Holy the Sabbath" even if you need to work.
Jesus taught that we need to be concerned with the people more than the law... that is why he healed on the Sabbath, which upset the Pharisees.
It seems to me we have an awful lot of Pharisees these days.

We dont follow the law of the Jews.. Jesus fulfilled the law. We live under grace. Its impossible to keep the Sabbath because not even the jews can do it.. Because jews no longer have the temple too make blood sacrafices for sin.
So I would really like too watch 1 jew on this earth fulfill the Sabbath day. You cant just do half of the law of the Sabbath, if your going to do it DO IT ALL.

Work and bringing people closer to God are not really work. God says to use the Sabbath to honor Him, so church can be a good way to do that.

I believe some people devote their lives to finding small contradictions within Christian teachings. Why is that? And why are radical muslims who find joy in killing and terrorizing people never asked why they go go against their teachings?
