This question is to non pagans really though anyone can answer. I just wondered what you would do if I were to become your friend and then later you discovered that I was a Witch? Would you avoid me or would you stay friends with me even though you might believe me to be evil and a satan worshipper? Honest answers please.

I ask out of interest because I have some friends who don't know that I am a witch...

I would already like to be your friend my lady. But if we knew each other for awhile and then you tell me that you are a witch, I would say something that I would regret and go away. Tomorrow I would come to you asking for forgiveness, with many questions on my mind of course.

You should tell your friends that you are a witch. Those who stay are true friends who love you. those who abandon you are unworthy of your friendship. They didn't really care about you anyway and you best forget them.

I'm a Christian. It is my understanding that not all witches are satan worshippers. Maybe most people don't know that.

I believe you can have any belief you want. I would prefer you choose Christianity, because I think it is the best belief. But I've had friends who don't believe in God at all. We just don't discuss the subject.

If you were my friend and you were a witch, I would not stop being your friend for that reason. I would not try to push my beliefs on you and I would not want you to push your beliefs on me. As long as we both did that, why not? It's just one of those issues where two friends agree to disagree and it's not a problem.

I would be your friend no matter what, but I'm a Witch too so... I guess when I look at it I'm in the Broom Closet but with most people it's not fear of them knowing, it's more that it hasn't come up. I wear a silver pentacle and am proud of my faith and if someone judges me for it there were never a true friend in the first place.

I have found over the years that there is a very low correlation between faith and whether or not a person is fun to be with or not. So I wouldn’t hold it against you at all. If anything, it could be an interesting spark for conversations and explorations in new areas of knowledge.
Other people can be judgmental in this area, however, but the good news is that your faith and revelation of it provides you a convenient way to test whether or not they are most excellent friends or just zomboid dweebiacs undeserving of your time and energy.

well that happened with my friend. I sorta led to it because I metioned about the religion and I thought it was cool and then she came out and told me. I was a bit taken back at first but only for a second. I thought it was really cool and now I think we might be even closer. Religion shoudn't affect one's friendships. You don't have to come out of the broom closet but if you do and they don't accept they aren't worth it to have as friends. I'm not Christian, I'm atheists or agnoists(haven't decided yet) so I don't believe the whole devil thing. I've aslo have learned quite a bit about wiccan from my freind and I have come to understand the magical world better.
I hope this helps you in whatever you wanted to know

Well being a Witch myself and having lot of people who don't know that I am, doesn't bother me...
Some get a bit surprised when they find out, but I have never been shunned by anyone and I live in a small country town, with a population of under 2,000..
Your friends will stick with you I'm sure, nobody will care...
Blessed Be... )O(

It wouldn't matter to me if we were friends and I learned you were Pagan at all so long as you didn't keep wanting to convert me or were unhappy with me having other beliefs. We would actually have some things in common since I like to celebrate the nature based holidays found in paganism/Wicca although just the purely natural aspects of them not the supernatural aspects. I fine with people have different beliefs from me, its only when the start expecting others to share them or force them onto others through violence, legislation, or intimidation that I have a problem with religion.

I would be your friend no matter what religion you are. I have Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, Hindu, and Buddhist friends. Religion never comes in the way of our friendship. You have the right to believe what you want, and I would never try and change your beliefs or stop being your friend because of religion. Good luck with telling your friends! :)

i only recently came out of the closet to some friends and some family. they are all actually fine with it. in fact, some are very positive and curious about it. i was really surprised. i just haven't told the ones who i think really may have a problem with it. also, i tend to be a private person and think religion is a personal, private issue, so i don't go around advertising.

anyway, you too may be surprised how accepting your loved ones can be!

If you had asked me this a year ago...If we were friends and you told me you were a witch I would have been apprehensive and probably asked a few stupid and uncomfortable questions, but I would not have ended our friendship over it.

After a year on Y!A...I would say Really!?! Tell me all about it!
