Obviously, you could live your life with a goal of making yourself happy. Every day, think positively and do something praiseworthy so that it will inflate your ego.
But living for our own happiness is never satisfying. Our desire is for a real purpose, i.e. what were we put on earth to do? That requires God.
If God exists, He must have put our need for real purpose in our human nature to point us to seek Him.

Giving your life to God doesn't mean that you have to join a convent, become a nun or something like that. You give your life to God by making Him your number 1 priority in life. Have a close personal relationship with him. Accept Jesus Christ as your saviour and believe that he loves you so much that he died just for you. Follow God's commandments. (If you love me, keep my commandments John 14:15) You have to reflect Christ's character in your own life. Above all, you must be sincere in your belief in him. He is real and he's longing for you to come to him and surrender everything into his care. Once you've invited him into your life, you'll feel the Holy Spirit and your life will never be the same again. You'll be a new creation. And God will be by your side every step of the way to carry you through your hard times and help you solve your problems. You'll never regret giving your life to God. But you will regret it if you don't give your life to him.

It means to do things He wants you to do. It might be to take a good care of your old parents, or to bring up a child, or just to be a good person who can help others. It means that you won't be lead in your life by the principal of choosing the best for yourself, but by the principal to do what He would be glad to see you doing.

No. Just be a representative of 'God' - follow the 10 commandments(in words, in thoughts and in deeds), spread his 'words' to mankind, help the poor, the sick and the needy. It's all about serving others. You don't have to join the convent nor attend the Sunday School, as one doesn't have to go to church to pray, ask for forgiveness, thanks for all his blessings or prove that he believes in GOD.
Cheers n' nun bless, Parolee

Living your life in a way that's pleasing to him, and placing your personal desires secondary to his divine will. Living life that way could take you almost anywhere. Maybe to the mission field, maybe to seminary, maybe something more routine like teaching school or just being a role model to youth at risk.

its not simply about doing things, in fact its not its believing that jesus christ the son of God came down from heaven and died. FOR YOU. You have to believe that he is your way to heaven and a relationship with him not yourself.
