I've been prescribed seroxat (aka peroxatine) and have only just realised it says to take it with or after food.

The problem is I've been taking them for just under a month and most of the time I don't do this.

From now on I'll be taking them like I'm supposed to but I just wanted to know if I've ruined the ones I've already taken?

I also read that you're meant to take pills with food because of irritation of stomach lining and so you don't feel sick after. I don't feel sick so is this okay?

Thanks!

No, you haven't ruined the ones you've already taken. Like you say, the reason for taking food with your medication is to prevent stomach upset, irritation, and possible ulcers. If your stomach hasn't been upset or irritated, then you are fine. Just start taking it with food from now on to prevent any problem.

Taking the medication without food will not influence it's effectiveness. You are correct about some medications causing gastric irritation. As you are not feeling any discomfort thus far, you should be just fine. Relax and follow the instructions here on out.

the only reason it says to take it with food is so that it doesn't cause your stomache to be upset. its good to take them with food if you can, but don't worry about not doing so in the past.
