If this has not been explained to you by your pastor, you are not ready for baptism. If it's something that you're "doing for Jesus" in order to gain points for Heaven, you may want to ask your pastor about that aspect. Weigh his/her answer carefully, then decide. If you were baptized as an infant, you may also want to do some research as to whether that mode sufficed.

Jesus pointed out the Trinity in that verse, and that's the "formulation" that the church took on because of the fact the norm for baptism, even in spite of the shown fact that the early church seems to have used purely Jesus' call. this suggests that the church has some freedom interior the administration of the ceremony, so your baptism replaced into in all probability a valid one until it does not belong to a faith that identifies itself interior the Nicene, Athanasian, and Apostles' creeds, no count if formally or informally. yet you asked for the real meaning of baptism before switching around to no count if the call of the Holy Spirit exists. i've got self belief baptism to be a demonstration and seal of a covenant of grace, meaning a marking of the seen Church. stroll removed from it, and one is considered a prodigal, not a "weed" outdoors the backyard and consequently somebody who must be witnessed to. those anybody is incredibly conscious of the dominion and its standards for citizenship. under the sacrament of baptism, we could assume which you're Christian, even in spite of the shown fact that an untrue one, wearing the Christian branding with you into loss of life in case you do not have self belief, and definite, which ability... Christians in hell. it incredibly is the honest Christian that is going to heaven.

In baptism God gives us grace. Again and again the sacred writers tell us that it is in baptism that we are saved, buried with Christ, incorporated into his body, washed of our sins, regenerated, cleansed, and so on (see Acts 2:38, 22:16; Rom. 6:1–4; 1 Cor. 6:11, 12:13; Gal. 3:26–27; Eph. 5:25-27; Col. 2:11–12; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet. 3:18–22). They are unanimous in speaking of baptism in invariably efficient terms, as really bringing about a spiritual effect.

It is through Baptism that we are "born again" (or "born from above") of "water and of the Spirit" (John 3:3-5).
The Old Covenant was entered into through circumcision; the New Covenant is entered into through Baptism.
Just as children were once circumsized as infants, they are now baptized as infants because the Kingdom of God, which is entered into through Baptism, most certainly includes them.
Baptism leaves an indelible mark on the soul, so one may be baptized only once.
The earliest extra-Biblical writing we have on the topic is the Didache, a 1st c. document known as "The Teachings of the Twelve Apostles." On the topic of Baptism, it reads:
But concerning baptism, thus baptize ye: having first recited all these precepts [i.e., all that is included in the Rite of Baptism], baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in running water; but if thou hast not running water, baptize in some other water, and if thou canst not baptize in cold, in warm water; but if thou hast neither, pour water three times on the head, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. But before the baptism, let him who baptizeth and him who is baptized fast previously, and any others who may be able. And thou shalt command him who is baptized to fast one or two days before.
If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ but have not been baptized, be baptized as soon as possible, and have your children baptized, too!
"Ego te baptizo in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti."

Baptism is simply the outward sign of our inward change.
It's an act of obedience I believe....and an act of worship. It is not however, a requirement for salvation.
I would do it if I were you.......it is a wonderful experience.
Baptism represents the death (standing in the water) , burial (going under the water) & resurrection (coming up & out of the water) of Christ....and how that newness of life has been given to us as well.
Hope this helps you,
-Primo

Baptism is a symbol of the washing away of your sins, a cleansing of your spirit from the things that used to tempt to into falling back into sin. However, you're still liable to sin afterward, so study and maintain your relationship with Him!

Baptism in water is to identify oneself with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Your old self is buried with Christ and you rise up with new creation life in Christ Jesus. In Christ, you are a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Excuse me for a sec... DONT just baptise because someone urged you or recommended or forced you way..No
ONLY and Only if you are confirmed and coinvinced that Baptism is essential go ahead..
BAPTISM is Joining with Christ. I resembles three things, THE death of JesusChrist:
1 +Death (to Sin) - Accepting Christ
You have to die to this sinful nature and earthly culture. YOu accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour and now that you obey Him in waters of Baptism.
Its dying to Sin.
2 +Burial (Immersion in Water)
No one keeps something dead for a Long time exposed or left without being Buried. THat whichis dead should be buried. I fkept for long it starts to stink.
Once you accept JesusChrist as your personal Saviour, you become dead to sin. Once dead to sin, next then we should be born to Life in Christ, Now that its no more your self to live in you But God. This resembles you Immersing in water.
3 +Resurrection - (coming out of water)
Now that your dead to sin, Buried in Christ...you shall be risen in Christ. Yea, its no more we or our self who live BUT Christ who lives in you. You are Re-born in Christ when you confess Him as your Lord. Your Re-born in water at Baptism.
....
It doesnt end there. You have to live this message of Jjesus Chrost and carry His message to the lost and the evil loving people. everyday you got to rededicate your life to Christ.
Somethink this too tight... let me tell you that all this goes along with your Busy life too. Spend time daily at the foot of the Cross and set aside a time for your Redeemer. Remember, its for you too that He was striped and Beaten, mocked and put to death. BUT your sitting with the One who has Risen back to Life withthe Ressurection power.
Dont try to learn and byheart the Words alone BUT to LIVE IT.
Whatever you do in Jesus name..finally if your not doing HIS WILL you will be lost. Therefore in all things do remember THat Christ's coming is nigh at hand.. God grant you Grace, Life.
Christ came to give you Life and Life in ABUNDANCE.
God Bless
Christ Love --- Dani
