coveting is the desire to own another person's property or possessions.
Jealousy is more to do with envy of a rival or suitor.

Jealousy is hatred based on coveting.
Coveting is wanting something someone else has.
Jealousy is hating them for having what you covet.
E.g.
Coveting = Wanting another man's girlfriend.
Jealousy = Hating him because he's got a girlfriend.
We think jealousy also means hating someone your girlfriend covets - hehehehe.
But it's not really a different meaning, because you hate your rival for 'having' her desire,...which you covet.
You have to covet, before you can be jealous.
So a Commandment against coveting is, by extension, against jealousy as well.

It's simple really. After all I just want to sleep with my neighbors wife(coveting),but I don't consider it bad that he's married to her instead of me(jealousy) He just got there first, more power to him cause she is hot,but if I get a chance to "hit it" I most certainly will. At least that's the way I see it.

I take jealousy to mean a feeling, like being resentful of someone, who they are or what they have or what they have achieved.
Coveting, I think it has to do more with wanting what someone else owns or has as a belonging of some sort.
