I would favor any of the major Japanese/Okinawan types of martial arts like Shotokan, Shito-ryu, Shorin-ryu, Goju-ryu, Judo, Aikido, or Jiu-Jutsu. They have not become near as watered down in some ways and you can still find instructors in those disciplines that have been studying for thirty years or more. They tend to teach and hold to a higher standard their students and they have not become as heavily commercialized as some of the other forms of martial arts.

You mean in addition to what we already study? If so, I am an Isshinryu practitioner, and I might study additionally one of the following: Aikido, Judo, (to improve my throws) Southern Kung Fu (particularly one from which Karate is descended, one that uses Sanjan like White Crane) , if I were younger I would like Boxing, and finally I've always been interested in Japanese Kenjitsu, Naginata-jitsu, and western Fencing.

It would be Tae Kwon Do..............Why? I'll give you my five reasons of the many reasons that I have............
1. Tae Kwon Do enhances your self esteem by heightening your physical and mental powers
2. Tae Kwon Do builds confidence by encouraging you to succeed and to take control of your life
3. Tae Kwon Do develop discipline by thoroughly training your body and mind in the tenets and techniques of taekwondo
4. Tae Kwon Do teach self-defense by training you to recognize situations inwhich physical self-defense may be necessary, and teaching you how to control such situations to your advantage
5. Tae Kwon Do strenghten your mind and body through increased physical coordination and mental discipline
Good luck
