now that it is burning to the ground - do you consider that a benefit to society - or are you the one with good holiday memories of BRACING SKEGGIE?

Buttons: Sometimes you make me sad that you sound as though you have it so rough. I wish it was better for you - don't give up hope. You sound as though you could do with a good holiday in Lincolnshire! Not a lot of snobs but plenty of fresh air and horses and dogs and beaches and pubs and good friends! You do sound as though you have a good family though - and there are thousands of people - many of them on here - that don't seem to even have that. Thanks for another fabulous answer - have you ever thought of writing a book? You could - you have a wonderful way with words! There has been a big fire in this seaside town - it has become very tacky and downmarket over the years and is home now to benefit scroungers and junkies (apologies to the few decent folk who do live there), a disgrace to visitors coming to the lovely English county of Lincolnshire. Thanks again Buttons - keep in touch!

Well I am going to answer this answer with, I'm Sorry I haven't ever been there as I live in the states. From an ignorant person from the states, this something I have never evev heard about or why it is burning. Is it considered a Tourist trap like so many places in the u.s.?? I refuse to go to Places like this even over here.
I hate the rude crowds and hate even more the ones who have looked down us common, downto earth, everyday hardworking, of the not rich. We have a Couple of Places in the state of Michigan that could some burn down time. One being a place called Bayshore, very expensive homes and these are home that are not allowed to be lived in except during the summer months. The whole area in which these beautiful large homes are is owned by be some Methodist Church and for the three months that your family stays in one of these homes is 30,000 dollars a month. And it is hysreical to me that all of the sidewalks all along the main street to go to other parts of Michigan are painted Pink. The includes even the driveways of the private stately home and to tell you the truth it looks ghastly.
The other place that could use some renewing is a place called Harbor Springs. Our Indian tribe had one of the last areas of land that was not of the rich and famous of the city of Harbor Springs. I stayed at my Aunt's home there and my husband and I and another Indian friend were walking around this place and they have this harbor there were the filthy rich come for the summer and we went to this harbor and walked about on the docks and I have never had so many people look down on us it is unreal. There was someone's yacht there and to me I would have called it a ship. It was huge and loaded with every known glamorous features it was sickening. I really hate both of these places I have just shared with you. Oh, also in Harbor Springs they have this one area that has a very well manned Security building and no one is allowed in the area unless you can prove you live there. We tried going down this road to it and we were met with shotguns and handguns and when we were asked why we had ventured there, I told him oh, we are just slumming it by going there and my husband who was a bit upset at the shotguns and handguns told the idiots that we had made a wrong turn and we were turning around. I told the idiots with the guns that we would never think of trying to look at anything on that bayshore as it was just to far beneath us. Of cousre I was lying pretty good as we were lucky we could stay in Indian town at aunt's for nothing. Nor could we even afford to eat there. Poor is our middle name. Or, it could be just barely making the bills. As far as these people I have a noise that looks down too and several of them got it from me or I would make a disgusting remark about how funny or absurd remark to my husband or our friend about someone we had the displeasure standing with while waiting for the light to change to cross the street and I said my remarks loud enough for all to hear.
Anyways, to answer your question, it would be a no, I have never been there.
