in the tank-and I changed the plugs-it doesnt have a cap/rotor as its wires go directly to the coil eliminating coil wire-cap rotor,etc.

I assume you checked for spark? Then consider a compression test; those cars have a horrible tendency to blow a head gasket.

it's most likely the ignition modual,i am not familiar with the 91 model but the earlier models had a modual on the side of the distirbutor that took a special wrench to change,the wrench is available at most parts stores for about 8 bucks,you only tighten bolts finger tight because they are very small and will break easily.takes about 5 min. to fix on earlier models

timing, fuses, make sure the battery is fully charged and if its carburetter spray some carb cleaner in it check the fuel lines n filters too.. its a process of elimination and if these don't work find a mechanic ,,, ooo and invest in a Chilton's book to see how to do repairs yourself if ya don't have one
