Where are some statistics for how many converts Islam gains each year? And for those who are going to post those anti-Islam sites, don't even bother because they'll just be ignored. And what do you think of the following?

"Before any other religion or system in the world Islam gave a woman the right to inherit, the right to vote and voice her opinion, the right to trade invest and improve herself financially, the right to own - buy and sell, the right to seek knowledge and have a good education, the right to work and has even gone further to oblige the males in every stage of her life, whether it was a father, brother or husband ... It's their duty before God to take care of her, to spend on her, to provide her with the food , clothing and shelter that she needs, to provide her with a good education, to protect her from anything that can harm her and to never hesitate to put their lives in stake for her if the need calls them to do so. "

As a modern westerner with a career, of course I had to look into Islam's attitude to women - I couldn't be oppressed all of a sudden. But I discovered that it is pro-women and pro-men; in Islam, women had the right to vote in the year 600.

as for women not being allowed in the mosque, they are allowed and are welcomed, but please don't confuse religion with culture

Obviously you are one of those western women who didn't have time to read the Bible, Muslimah, or you'd know that Moses awarded women the right to property during the desert trek to the promised land. Two sisters came before him asking for an inheritance in their late father's estate, and he granted it, thereby setting a precedent quite a while before Muhammed. Also, if you take the trouble to look, you will find that Jewish women have long had all the rights in the bedroom. Maybe you should look up some Christian and Jewish sites, just to see what else the imam might have left out of the indoctrination speech. Since Islam is apparently the only rational, objective and free-thinking religion on the planet, I'm sure he'd be grateful for the heads up.

No one really knows how many convert to Islam since masjids do not keep track of how many convert or the people who convert outside of a masjid. There is no united body to keep track either.

Islam actually was not the first religion to give woman any rights. Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism gave women equal rights thousands of years before Islam existed.

I am writing mainly to answer Alpha Woolf and Fencer.

Alpha Woolf, you are right. Nowhere it is prohibited for women to go to the mosque. In fact, there are sayings of prophets (peace be upon him) in which he has asked not to stop women from coming if they want to come. As opposed to men, it is not obligatory on women because of obvious reasons. What is practised in most of the Muslim countries is not right. What is even more ironic is that women are working along side men and when it is time for prayers men get together while women pray on their own. In modern world today, when women are going out for everything, why should they not go to the mosque. if anything, it would benefit them in their religious outlook.

Fencer, Islam is a religion which is independent of culture. I think you have misunderstood the basics. Since Islam focuses on guidelines and expects people to come up with their own procedures based on those guidelines that it is so adaptable to any culture.

i does no longer say that devil made me convert, lol. i do no longer think in god, consequently i do no longer think in devil the two. i did no longer particularly 'convert' to something. I in basic terms got here to a determination that the assumption of a god, such because of fact the single in the monotheistic religions, isn't working for me. If there's a god, i do no longer think of he could deliver human beings to 'Hell'. that's the stupidest concept to me. that for the duration of itself might have been sufficient for my ideas to cease believing in him. there are various extra different reasons to checklist right here. existence now's no longer extra desirable, yet no longer worse. a minimum of I have no guilt over each and every little thing, and no concern of a few mean god who places human beings in hell. faith is there for people who want coaching. i understand a thank you to be ethical devoid of an invisible guy threatening me to attain this with fireplace. extra: do no longer attempt and say i don't understand the religion. i replaced into raised with sunday college, and have my short suras memorized. I did study the finished Quran in English (that is fantastic and that i appreciate it), and studied different religions besides. it is not something against Islam. that is against the assumption of god often i do no longer trust.

There aren't many (they'd probably be more away from Islam than to it).

The growth of Islam is mostly due to fertility which won't be sustained.

You might also want to consider that the right to inherent for a woman in Islam is half of what a man would get which is not at all good.

But then again, there's not much point spending time on you because you're just going to ignore things, but at least you were upfront about what you weren't going to look at.

Hello,
I understand your point of view, but the main point is not about dress, culture, freedom, etc.
For me the main point is: Can the Islam be adopted in another culture without push the Holy Quran to conflict? The thoughts from 2nd century are yet practiced today.

On the contrary, The Bible can be applied on different culture, although the Bible was written to Hebrew and Greek culture. The thoughts from the Bible are not literal as the Holy Quran is.

One thing that you might want to look into is the practice of keeping women out of the mosque. I studied Islam some and was disturbed by this fact. I know some women do go to the mosque and no where does it say they can't go, but it seems to me that they are discouraged from doing so. I always wondered why but never got any clear answers.

No.
With proper education and sometime with the help of zyprexa(use only as directed, see a psychiatrist), religious superstitions and schizoid delusional mental disorders will quietly fade away.
