Perhaps I should explain......

I was bridesmaid for my friend last year so I want her to be my bridesmaid too. Obviously she's now married so the way I understand it is she has to be a Maid of Honor.

I would quite like my other friend to be chief bridesmaid because she's been such a fantastic friend to me over the years and I want her to play a big role in my wedding.

Just wondering if its possible to have both?!

It'd ur big day! you should definitely do what ever you want. i would still make her the friend a bridesmaid (married or not) and make the "best-friend" the Maid of Honor.

when i renew my vows, my sister will be my Maid of Honor (married or not) and my best-friend will be a bridesmaid (and she's married). have fun, cause once it's over; it's over!

CONGRATULATIONS!!:)

Yes, the only difference is the matron of honour is usually married and the chief bridesmaid looks after all the other bridesmaids. I had 2 adult bridesmaids, 2 girls (7 & 4) a ringbearer (my nephew 9) and a flower girl and pageboy (both 18 months) it was a big church and I also had 4 ushers.

It also kept the peace between the familys! Oh and I only had the 1 priest! lol

Maid of honour is single, MATRON of honour is married. I even have on no account heard of a "chief bridesmaid", it form of feels somewhat stupid and grace of impolite to call one bridesmaid a "chief" one over the others. Maid/Matron of Honour is a undeniable and diverse place than a bridesmaid, so the bridesmaids understand and don't sense much less significant on your existence.

Just because she is married does not mean she cant be just a brides maid only if she was going to be your maid of honor to begin with would the title change to Matron of honor but if you want a maid of honor and a matron of honor that is fine or just call the married one a bridesmaid and the long time friend a maid of honor but i am From America so i don't know if you are too and i know other countries have different traditions

For my wedding I couldn't choose between my best friend of 20 years and the girl I've been best friends with my entire life. Luckily, one is married so I had a Maid and a Matron of Honour. So, you could easily even have two Maids of Honour or a maid of honour and chief bridesmaid and just divide up the responsibilities and perks between them. Anyway, Congrats and have fun on your "big day", it really does go by quickly!

My daughter had a matron of honour, chief bridesmaid, two other bridesmaids and little girl of two as a bridesmaid and two page boys.....have what you want and make it the loveliest day of your life as my daughter did. Its a magical day when all your wishes will come true. Lots of love and a big big hug. May you have a very happy married life and God bless you now and always.

There is ONE position - either a Maid of Honour (not married) or a Matron of Honour (married). The others are bridesmaids.
If you want your closest married friend, she would be your Matron of Honour. The other one would be a bridesmaid.

She doesn't HAVE to be maid of honor but if you want her to be, you can have a MOH and a Chief Bridesmaid.

dont see why not its your wedding go for it start a trend

actually the maid of honour term is only used when the bridesmaid is already married so if none of them are married you dont really class her as maid of honour she would just be head bridesmaid
