Re Fritz Milan

Echoes of the success of Northern Ireland. Well done you for bringing that simple observation of educating the youngest generation from the say they are born to recognise that life is short and there is more to life than constant conflict.
Having said that, it took N.I. 3 generations and came at a HIGH cost of life, to get that simple message through.. but... the proof is there.

Never in my lifetime did I ever think the words, "Peace" and "Belfast" could be uttered in the same sentence in a positive and meaningful way... but, I'm happy to say, I have been proved wrong in this instance.. so ..

The Template IS there..

Re tpaf106 QUOTE "Let's start by being a little more specific. You don't mean stop "terrorism" but instead you mean "terrorism by fundamental Islam". "

IF I had wanted to be "more specific" I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY SPECIFIC !!

The FACT my question stated WHat is the political solution for an END OF TERRORISM?".. means EXACTLY what it says - TERRORISM...

YOU can be as specific as you want.

MY question was about TERRORISM - ALL terrorism - be it on the streets with the street gangs, or as specific as you chose to highlight, ...

TERRORISM is terrorism and it HAS to be dealt with.

It's too late for this generation of the next 2 generations following us, BUT, with good education from birth, it IS possible to change this dangerous mentality - as the Northern Ireland template for peace from terrorism has shown... and we KNOW HOW long that took, and at WHAT COST...

Let's start by being a little more specific. You don't mean stop "terrorism" but instead you mean "terrorism by fundamental Islam". If that's the case then the answer is it won't ever stop in our lifetime. You need to recognize that Islam has been fighting the "dar el harb" (infidels" since the eigth century. They once controlled everything from India to Spain and want it back again under a new caliphate. With that as their goal there will be no end to terrorism until there is an end to fundamentalist Islam (Wahabism and the Muslim Brotherhood) is stopped from teaching their radical, jihadist view to each new generation.

Reincarnate Mo Mowlam, and clone her several times over. Then get a parachute style regiment to drop her over the following countries/provinces
Basque are of Spain/France; West Bank and Gaza; Indonesia; Sri Lanka; Ethiopia/Sudan border; Turkey; Albania, etc
and also the following terrorist group headquarters, Combat 18 and Column 88 in the UK; Animal Liberation Front in the UK; Army of God in the USA; Interahamwe in Rwanda; An Gof in Cornwall, UK; Ginger Separatist Movement in South Park, USA, etc etc

If that doesn't work (and it looks tricky from the a logistical and technical point of view) then I don't think we can solve the problem of terrorism.
It's in some humans' nature to cause violence and destruction.
I forgot to add state funded terrorism.
Let's not forget September 11th 1973 and the USA and Pinochet!

If we're talking about Islamic terrorism, then it may be impossible to 'end' it as their stated aims feature a world living under Sharia law.

Since this is not something that the free world will ever agree to, there can be no political solution, because what the Islamic terrorist groups want is not something we can provide.

I think that we should impose sanctions, if we don't already, on all those countries which support terrorist groups; this would mean Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia.

In the UK, we should immediately deport anyone who is not a British citizen who is a member of radical groups such as Hizbut Tahrir. And we should ban Hizbut Tahrir from universities, where currently it is busy recruiting.

Since the 90s, London has been used freely by Islamic terrorist groups and this has to stop.

Mosques should be monitored and anyone found to be preaching 'jihad' or violence or hatred towards other ethnic groups, should be either deported if not British, or imprisoned if they are.

I guessed you're Irish, [craic] is an obvious clue. I'm a 74 years old Englishman and I apologise on my own account for the hurt caused by my 'Government' to you personally, and your countrymen. My answer to your question is:-

1. Stop hostilities.
2. Talk for as long as possible

In Northern Ireland it finally worked but, in Iraq I fear there will be many more parents mourning, before it ends, or the Allies leave them to 'get on with it'

it will be difficult for we have a clash of ideologies. it is hard when the young of the terrorist are being taught hate and that killing monkeys (Jews) have no soul. this is how many thought of slaves and justified their 'peculiar institution' as you have to have euphemisms to make such behavior acceptable.

they use cartoons, praise and deception to make their children accept dying and killing in the name of their god. taking hate out of the madrassess is the first step.

i recently saw where the Saudie's, yes i said saudies, are experimenting with therapy for young people arrested for terrorist activites several interviewed stated how sad they were that they were trained to hate and take lives so easiely. one also stated that now he knows he is the true muslim and that the terrorists are not..i am paraphrasing but it was encourging. these kinds of programs will be useful.

also others, are beginning to see that for their children to have any hope of a future, people will have to learn to work togther as war benefits no one. so i do have hope.

wafta sultan is a well known author and therapist has written a book on the issues, so i do remain hopeful but it will be a long process and many will die until then.

"The clash we are witnessing around the world is not a clash of religions, or a clash of civilizations. It is a clash between two opposites, between two eras. It is a clash between a mentality that belongs to the Middle Ages and another mentality that belongs to the 21st century. It is a clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality. It is a clash between freedom and oppression, between democracy and dictatorship. It is a clash between human rights, on the one hand, and the violation of these rights, on other hand. It is a clash between those who treat women like beasts, and those who treat them like human beings. What we see today is not a clash of civilizations. Civilizations do not clash, but compete." by Wafta Sultan

First of all our current war on terror will not end anytime soon. It may last a generation. The best we can do is to keep at it, but try to find a way to get to the younger generation, before they are brainwashed into terrorism and terror tactics. Stop that sort of hatred before it starts.

First what terrorist and in who's eye are we looking through and the problems that persist. In the US is it because we support Israel or is it because we don't support Islam or the Palestine's or we failed to deliver on promise to Bin Laden for destroying the Soviets. The solutions are to spread the wealth but that can not be done. Because OIL, Globalization and capitalism, nuking them means we have to wait to long to go back into that region to retrieve the oil, so just stay at war.

Hello, Why does it always end up in the laps of politicians? Each and every one of us send a message to the terrorist asking what they want to achieve. When the answers are given you will have them that agree and those who appose.Call for a meeting of the terrorist and those that agree with them. Then painlessly Nuke the f------g lot before they get us first. The other answer is to have more PIG farms in every village, town and cities all streets, gardens if true to their beliefs thay should piss off back whence they came.

It's a great question but unfortunately it is about the same as finding a political solution to crime or a number of other things. First you would need to understand the reason for terrorism and just like crime there are many. Then there is the undeniable fact that one mans terrorism is anothers fight against oppression. There is no solution to it and the only defence, like crime, is to remain vigilant and to act against it when it is recognised. From a personal danger point of view we are at far more risk from ordinary crime than we are from terrorism.

First, americans need to stop terrorising other countries. Stop stripping countries of their sovernign rights, and stop establishing our own puppet governments within those countries.

IF we stop being the terrorists around the world. Others would not feel the need to RETALIATE against us.

Also... If we stop arming and training the other terrorists.. they will not have the training or financial backing to carry out their deeds... Binladen was trained and funded by the CIA...
