The first thing that you need to do is take everything off the walls, window, ceiling, floor etc. If you are planning on moving things that were on the walls to a different location then you will need to spackle the holes in the wall. If you are just planning on painting then after you remove everything you need to apply tape to the edges of the trim molding on the floor, doors and windows. You also need to add tape along the edges of the ceiling. If you are not planning on taking out all of your furniture just moving it to the side as you do a wall then put the drop cloth at the wall that you are working on. if you are removing all of the furniture put the drop cloth down and then tape the edges of the floor to the cloth. You will need to have a roller and at least one paint brush, an old towel for spills or splashes and either a ladder or step stool to reach the higher areas. Make sure that you mix the paint well. Start in the corners of the wall that you are working on. Using the paint brush make sure that you come out far enough that the roller will pick up the edge of the paint. Only paint a 4 foot area in the corner then use the roller make a V shape with the paint in the corner that you are working on and then you fill in the that area. Continue around the room. Good luck to you

Ceiling first, then walls after preparing them (filling any holes etc) then gloss for skirtings and doors etc.

Have fun!
