Well, considering the brutality in an American prison, I can assure you that many thieves and rapists have the tables turned on them once they are behind bars. But..is it right? If you believe that prison should only be punishment for a crime, then...yes. It is right.

But...if you believe that we should try to rehabilitate people, then this is not the best way to go about helping them be better people. The fact of the matter is, some people are able to change, and some people aren't. Sorting them out is nearly impossible.

Well, I agree with capitol punishment but your argument doesn't make much sense. I do see your logic in asking this question. Capitol punishment is punishment for a crime committed, and although your argument seems like justice I don't know how the punishment you describe could be carried out.

Although stealing and rape are crimes that cause much damage, still the victims of such crimes are not dead, are they? People can recover from the crime of rape, and surely if someone steals, that crime can be recovered from. Taking a life is the single worse crime because the victim doesn't ever get their life back.

Killing a murderer is just to keep people from harm of that person, they have a chance to defend themselves first and sometimes only go to prison, but you wouldn't exactly bring a thief to court and punish him by stealing from him! " Your punishment: I will come on Thursday night and steal 5 of your most prized items..." Doesn't make much sense!!! But raping a rapist is wrong, just because they do evil sin, don't start copying them!

Unlike some Old Testament worshipers I'm against the Death Penalty.
The Death Penalty is not a deterrent much to the chagrin of its supporters who quote the Goat Herders' Guide to the Galaxy ad nauseam completely forgetting that the 'eye for an eye' thingy is not something Jesus said as it’s from the Old Testament and not the New Testament.

If DP supporters are so adamant I'm surprised they aren't calling for the stoning to death of teenagers who are disrespectful to their elders.
