Personally I think the idea of a little heart tattoo is cute. Just remember that you're going to be looking at it every day and so will other people. If you get it in such a public place when you go to work you will always have to worry about keeping it covered because employers are picky about that stuff. I would suggest getting it in a place that can be hidden if needed but can also be seen when you want it to! The wrist is a good place, or even the back of the neck. Good luck and happy 16th!

First...make sure you have a design that is UNIQUE. Ever go someplace and see someone wearing the same outfit you have on? Now imagine that with something far more personal like a tattoo. Nothing makes me more ill that people getting 'cookie cutter' tattoos. Hearts are pretty and universally accepted, but add a twist to it that makes it YOURS.

Second...make sure you understand that a tat is there forever. My daughter is 17 and wants a tat. As a responsible parent, I am raking her over the coals to ensure she knows that once it's on, it's there forever...like it or not. I would never condone getting a tattoo just because you can. Everyday when you get out of the shower, you're going to see it. Will it have the same value and meaning when you're 20...40...70?

Think long and hard before you sit in the chair. Once you are 110% sure, go for it!

Personally. I'm not a fan of heart tattoos. I think if something is important enough to you to have it tattooed on your body you should design it yourself and it should be meaningful - i think hearts are a bit dull, but if you like it that's up to you.

What country are you in? In the UK it is illegal to get a tattoo if you are under the age of 18 (with or without parents consent) - avoid anywhere that is prepared to break this law as they will probably scrimp on hygiene as well. A good tattooist should smell like a doctors surgery - clean and clinical.

If you do decide to get it make sure its somewhere that can be covered easily by clothes - a lot of places wont employ you if you have visible tattoos - collarbone sounds like a good bet. Different colours on tattoos will fade differently, so use as few colours as possible, and be prepared to get it recoloured in the future.

If you want to get it and have thought about it for a while then go for it. You could get it so that it would sit under a shoulder strap so that you can hide it if necessary.... I got quite a lrage tattoo on my lower back about ten years ago... it hurt like hell but only for the duration of the tattooing... I want to get another but I'm a bit scared haha!! I wouldn't get another one like the one I have ( tribal design) but I don't regret it. It is a part of who I am and always will be..

I love your idea, and props to you for being strong through all of that. I hope your mother is doing well now. I like you idea a lot, actually. The stars are the only part I would change. They're too overdone on a lot of people, so maybe a different simple image would be better to represent the 8 of you. Maybe the first letter of all your names? It depends on what you want, really. Good luck and best wishes

a heart tattoo is a little common in my opinion, similarly a butterfly or tribal design which has no personal meaning. my advice would be to wait a little longer until you find an idea with personal meaning, perhaps a chinese design for strenght or courage, something that you can look to in times of stress to motivate you. a heart, while being cute probably has no personal meaning to you so in years to come you will probably become bored of it. a tattoo is a piece of art and it permanent, so please think carefully about your choice, hope this helps

i think it would be cute.

i don't believe you will able to get a tattoo for your birthday, even if your mom takes you. they recently changed the law, and even with parent's consent, you can't get a tattoo unless you're eighteen.

so i hope it's a friend.

but in conclusion, i think the heart would be cute. it's in a place where it will still be seen, but easily covered if needed. i like it, like it a lot.

I have four tats and my biggest thing is to always get something that means something to you, not because you like it now, get something that REALLY means something to you. I have daddys girl tattooed on me, and i am gonna get my sons name, just make sure it is something that wont get old seeing it.

I think that you should think of the future. Will you like it when your 45? And most important, it has to have meaning. Most people just get a tattoo just to get one. But, I think that they must have meaning.
