Listen to the news! If your ship is set to sail and there is a hurricane in that direction - 99% of the time they will change course and take you somewhere else. They do not cancel the cruise.

Most cruise lines post changes due to weather on their website, also your travel agent will be notified by the cruise line as soon as possible after any changes in cruise plans are made.

The noaa website has a hurricane page to watch as well as the weather channel site at weather.com can be helpful.

Normally cruises are not cancelled, they just alter the planned itinerary. If this happend they will usually offer you the chance to cancel your trip. If the need arises to change the cruise plan during the cruise due to unforeseen changes in the weather pattern, they will compensate you with a partial credit or other form of compensation for the change in plans.

You can watch the weather channel, check in with the National Weather Service, or check in with your cruise line.
