That's probably the first question that will be answered and we will know as soon as we meet Him face to face.
Very valid question indeed !

Everything which has a beginning has a cause.

The universe has a beginning.

Therefore the universe has a cause.

The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning, God, unlike the universe, is eternal, he had no beginning, so doesn't need a cause. He is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the time dimension He created, so has no beginning in time.

Atheists had no problem believing something could transcend time and space when science believed the Universe was eternal, but now that science has discovered the universe did have a beginning, why do Atheists have so much trouble believing God can transcend time and space?

This leaves atheists in a dilemma: either accept a transcendent cause for the universe (namely God) or believe that something can come from nothing.

But to believe that something can come from nothing defies a commonsense principle: “Out of nothing, nothing comes.” Some-thing simply can’t come from no-thing.

Atheist professor Kai Nielsen admitted, “Suppose you hear a loud bang…and you ask me, ‘What made that bang?’ and I reply, ‘Nothing, it just happened.’ You would not accept that.” If that is true of a little bang, then why not a big bang too?

Moreover, if God is...well...God, then He is a supernatural force. And the very definition of "supernatural" means that He stands OUTSIDE of nature. If God is God, then God needs no Creator.

There are many questions about God and you will get allot of answers from people who read a book then tell you there interpretations.
The real answer is that no one really knows.
Every one has an opinion and here is mine.
I think that there is so much that we can not and will not understand.
We have trouble accepting things that we are not familiar with. Right now most people see birth life and death. That in its self could be an illusion. We may never spiritually die.
I don't know and no one can tell you for sure about God.
The only thing I know for sure is that much of the world has to be very mistaken on many things dealing with the issue of God because there are so many books and religions that are very different. They cant all be right.

The God who created everything says that He exists in and of himself and needs nothing to sustain himself. If He created time, space, matter, and energy then he would be omniscient and omnipotent and the like and consistent in character.

Unless you have absolute knowledge you can't prove that God doesn't exist or needs to be a created being.

He came into existance just as all the many so-called gods and other mythological creatures did.
Either to control the minds of the ignorant masses with fear, or as a story to keep from being afraid of a natural death.

I think God only came into existence to the extent humans dreamed the idea up.

Can god create a stone so heavy that he himself cannot lift?

He's not real, but if you want an answer to your question, my friend told me that "God created time, so he is timeless. People think in terms of time. He was always there" Blah.

This part can't be answered because human beings were created by God, who's the creator. Our minds are probably not able to understand his existence. This is a very good question to ask though...

As another has put it, He didn't just come into existence one day, He is the I Am!
