Is the "taxes withheld" differ from what really is the total amount I paid for my taxes?

Your withholding from paychecks is shown on line 64. Your total taxes paid so far is shown on line 72. The total amount of your tax for the year (which may be more or less than what's on line 72) is on line 63.

This is all pretty clear if you take the time to understand page 2 of form 1040.

Taxes withheld is what you actually had taken out of your payhecks. That's not your total federal income tax for the year - that's on the line that says "total tax" - on last year's 1040 it was line 63

You probably paid other taxes also, like FICA (social security and medicare) - you can get that number off your W-2 - and possibly state and/or local income tax.

Total amount of taxes paid by you can differ from "taxes withheld" only if you made estimate tax payments and if in your last year's return you had tax refund applied to this year's taxes.
