jlcrit: I didn't mind getting a little cooked to change a starter so a fella could keep his job, but the cat would be toast if it didn't get down on its own!

I guess the fact that I changed a flourescent light fixture for my mother, even though I have advanced degenerative disk disease in my neck, makes me a nutjob? If so, oh well, guess i'm a nutjob...but I can look in the mirror and like what I see.

I would absolutely risk physical pain to help some one. It's our purpose on Earth.Help one another. I would certainly hope if I needed help some one would be willing to do the same for me!

I have a Doctor friend who is an Infectious Disease doctor. He treats the weirdest of the wierd and the worst of the worst of them. Anyway, he's been treating a young girl - 9 years and she's now 2o years old. She has Bruschetts Syndrome and will never get better. I don't knoiw if she is a Christan. All her friends have moved on to college and got on with their lives. She is confined to her home with her little dog, limited computer access, and heavy duty medication. Never out of her jammies. Constant, undefined pain, hers is a nightmare that you can not imagine. I have prayed to the Lord many times, that I would gladly exchange my life for hers. I have had my first kiss, been married, had a child, made mistakes. She has never had that opportunity. She will never know what life really is. I am still here. But if I could trade tonight, I would.

I bore three children without benefit of any meds--natural childbirth. That's pretty painful. I think bringing new life into the world is worth some discomfort.

When my middle son was a 4th grader, I walked for 45 minutes on a broken ankle to help him finish his leaf collection. I knew I broke it when I stepped in a hole, and as a single mother, I had to help him collect his leaves before going to the ER, because I knew I would be on crutches. There was no one else to help him.

***It really was a nice thing you did, helping that man out. I don't think too many people would put themselves out to help someone keep a job. To save a life, or to keep them from harm, sure. You went above and beyond. A star for you sir.

NO! fudge no! that is wrong. To get where? what is that important? I don't believe attending a funeral alongside the president would justify that. What would the person in distress say why they were late... Sorry I would have been here an hour earlier but my car broke before a guy burned himself to fix it for me. BUT If a noble act like fixing a car caused a burn accidentally then it is good.

I have done this in the form of diverting an attack on a friend. In turn the attack was directed at me. In a hypothetical version yes i would accept someones pain if it were a child or a person i cared about. How much pain? i dont know.

i wouldnt mind at all....even if i didnt have religion in my life, i would still have morals and ethics. I would risk being electricuted to get someones cat off of a power line. however, they would have to be someone i know, at least. I would take a bullet for my best friend. I have taken a paintball to the balls for him too...and i was stabbed at, but not stabbed just cut, trying to save a complete stranger in Austin, TX...but I learned not to meddle with strangers' affairs if it escelates to that moment lol

Honestly, that's tough for me and right now I would say that it depends on what might be accomplished. I would probably do it, though. The example you gave is a little much but I would do it as long as the burns don't cover my whole body...lol...

I hate pain, but in my mind I think, well I'm gonna be the kind of person to help no matter what, cause if I was in trouble I'd hope someone would come to help me. If we're not willing to help our fellow man then what kind of world is this?

I am not stupid enough to incur second degree burns from working on a car, but I get your point. Getting somewhere is not going to get it, either. Being in danger of dying, perhaps.

Like a woman in labor or what? Just give blood, it's slightly uncomfortable. Yes, I've done it several times.
