Well...I'm going to go to college first...after high school....almost speak spanish fluently...speak a little german...I have a while to improve both. I'm in good shape. Has anyone out there been in the Special Forces? Do you reccommend it? How long will i be obligated to serve? oh yeah...and I think I'm going to do ROTC in college : ) Thanks a ton! : )

After you go though basic, airborne and preselection to get into SF, then you start training for your Q, then after your Q and you are SF qualified, you have to have 3 years left on active contract. If you are going officer, you have to be a captain to get in, so you are going to do some years before you reach that rand, 4 or 5 maybe, then you can go SF.

For the enlisted side, the total length of your contract will be 8 years. 5 or 6 will be on active duty, and the remainder in the reserves.

they will make you sign up a minimum of 4 years. My son is a specialist now in Iraq. He is not in combat.
