Scince you just got her and she's new. Then maybe it's because she's in a new place. And she never saw it before, and she's scared. If you got her from some people, and they still had, the mother cat then, she probably misses her mom, because she's never been without her mom. But dont worry in no time, she will get used to it. Give her a couple of days. And also show her that you love her by stroking her back. And she will feel loved, and comfortable, and maybe stop, so also give that, a chance, she will get used to it, dont worry!

Your cat is lonely. You may want to consider a companion - yes, another cat for a playmate. You did not say whether you worked, or that your cat may be by itself for several hours a day? All of my cats when I first got them whether they were kittens or older thought it was playtime at night time, but after hmmm, maybe a few weeks, I can't remember for sure now, because they all settle down at night time when I do now. It takes time to adjust. And yes, I do remember the wakeful nights when my cats ran up and down the hall and flat had a hay day- only it was night!. Must you put your cat in a room by itself at night? Is it potty trained, and if so could you fix a kitty bed in the corner of your room? I do believe your kitty would settle down in a short time if it were not lonely or alone at night. Just another thought maybe the night light and the radio confuses your cat as to whether it is time to settle down or not. And if it can not tell, it may percieve being put in a room by itself, though with light and a radio, as punishment, and so it crys. Hope this helps. cokoko

Sorry, cats are nocturnal. That's what they do...sleep all day, play at night.
Try keeping her awake all day maybe you can alter a portion of her sleep habits. The older she gets the better it will get but that requires time and patience and if your not getting any sleep she may not have enough time to change with age.
She doesn't need the night lite. Cats have excellent vision in the dark. How about a fish tank in her room? kitty TV.

How much yelling does she have to do before you realize she's LONELY? She's trying as hard as she can to tell you this but you're not getting the message.
Put her in your room for the night and close the door (litter box too). She'll calm down and sleep with you and that'll be the end of the yelling. She's craving physical contact with another being, not a radio and locked room.

I would first call your vet and ask for solutions. If necessary you could have him examine her for worms. That can cause problems. If no worms, then ask at an animal shelter what could be the problem.
