To ask oneself the purpose of life is the same as asking the purpose of reality. The universe exists. Matter has properties and behaves according to precise laws of physics, chemistry, and biology. We are the products of those properties and laws and so, we are part of reality.
We can discover how reality works and choose pleasure over pain while we are alive. To ask if reality with its laws and living organisms has a purpose implies there is someone outside of reality with conscious intentions. In other words; the question is: Is there a conscious entity outside of reality for whom our life and reality as a whole has a purpose?
But reality is not an object which belongs to someone. We humans tend to look at the universe in the same manner in which we look at our pair of shoes. Yes, our shoes were made for the specific purpose of wearing them on our feet, but the universe? Can reality have a purpose for somebody outside of reality? Does that make any sense? How much do we want to speculate?
Reality is everything that exists. We can study and discover what exists in reality. We cannot study and discover that which we invent with our minds because that does not exist.

The purpose of life is to know the reality about the life.Merely eating, sleeping, wandering here &there, wasting time in the matters related to physical body without paying attention on how to introduce moral values in life is useless. Ofcourse one has to devote sufficient time to earn money in order to run the family. But continuouslly running behind the materialistic world will make you mad &tenseful, that so why a kind of balance needs to be maintained in our life between the materialistic progress &spirituality/morality.Then only we can do justice with our life&may get contentment, peace, prosperity, etc.

When you look back on a lifetime and think of what has been given to the world by your presence, your fugitive presence, inevitably you have to think of your art, whatever it may be, as the gift you have made to the world in acknowledgement of the gift you have been given, which is the life itself. And I think the world tends to forget that this is the ultimate significance of the body of work each artist produces. It is not an _expression of the desire for praise or recognition, or prizes, but the deepest manifestation of your gratitude for the gift of life.

We are created in the image and likeness of the Holy Trinity (God), therefore, our purpose in life is to recieve God's gift and then to GIVE our life and love to others (our spouse) as a gift to in marriage, and thus have kids. LIfe is about self-donation, not self-gratification. Christ teaches that this will make us happy.
Having said this. our earthly families imitate the one true God which is an eternal family of self-giving life and love between The Father and The Son. Their love is the person of the Holy Spirit. Three seperate eternal beings that are each God, yet they are one nature/substance. They are one God.

The purpose of life - human life - is to have a relationship with God. That's why we were originally created. Obviously we are a corrupt creation. =/
We were also meant to multiply, tend the earth and take care of all its non-human inhabitants.

I have yet to find a purpose. In fact, I'm happiest when I'm not even thinking about my purpose.

What kind of god would create beings just to worship it? Pretty insecure, if you ask me.
The meaning of life? What difference does it make?
The meaning of YOUR life? A different story. You are only given a short time in this universe- make the most of it. Be happy.
