First, I think that's an awesome goal. And anybody who can drop a running target at 550m has my vote.

Second, and this is the bad news... women aren't taken very serious services. To get them in, the military was forced to lower some of the standards for women... specifically physical standards. As a result, when it comes to "getting the job done," women are kind of looked on as second-class citizens. Generally, women lack the upper body strength that men have. So when it comes to push-ups, pull-ups, climbing ropes, scaling walls... the guys are feel that they have to carry the girls.

Thus, I see your daughter's quest being uphill all the way. And I'm not sure she'll make it. Not necessarily because she's not qualified, but because of her gender.

May I suggest she talk with a recruiter. . Find out what her chances are. I think it would be awesome if she could make it. But, in the absence of official confirmation to the contrary, I'd say it's safer to be pessimistic.

Edit...
Ok... listen to the lady Marine. She's been there.

No matter how good a shot she is or how good her field-craft she will have to undergo basic training first.

The Army or the Marines will break her down and teach her to do it their way but having some natural talent will be a big help.

With regards the "period" question, if guys can crap in a bag and carry it with them then I see no problem a woman following along the same way.

The Russian women snipers in WW2 had no problem killing Nazis no matter what time of the month it was!!!

The one thing to keep in the back of the mind though is that Snipers are never shown any mercy if located by the oppostion, it will be no good thinking that just because she is a female she will get easy treatment.

the army would not enable women human beings to earn the B4 skills identity which shows that a solider has carried out the 5 week direction in benning to become a sniper, i went threw in 01 the closest a woman can get to any variety of try against function in any us service is a pilot in spite of if in Iraq I easily have considered postal clerks maning 50 cal ma deuce weapons on humvies. so its all a rely of dialogue of the function of ladies human beings in try against. yet they do no longer look to be allowed to prepare for any variety of try against college at the same time with ranger sapper sniper or sf.

First of all, nobody joins the service to become a sniper. THEY CHOOSE YOU if you have certain abilities. The primary requirement to become a sniper in the millitary is that one can shoot accurately at great distances.
Sounds simple. Now for the small things. Shooting some one in the heat of battle is one thing. Shooting some one that you can clearly see their face is another. It becomes a HELL of a lot more different even knowing that the person she's shooting at is the ennemy. Can she go for hours without going to the bathroom (or going in her pants)? Can she lay still for many hours without giving up her position? Is she willing to go hungry for a great ammount of time? Can she go without sleep for days and still be alert? After the kill is she willing to die? Clear possibility there! "..she can do just a good job as a man , maybe better" ? Killing someone is not a glamour job! It takes dedication in an enormous level. You have seen too many damn moovies! If she can pass all the training, than she may be ready. You on the other hand may need to see a shrink to even ask such a question. Been there and done that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunatly for her..the answer is no.

It has nothing to do with how well she shoots or stalk.

women are not allowed in combat MOS's and snipers generaly come from infantry MOS.

one primary reason is health. Infantry and snipers are often required to be out on missions for days or weeks. This means no access to showers. A woman on her period who is unable to clean herself possess a health risk to herself.

just one of many reasons.

Her recruiters can tell her anything, but after basic. The
orders do not come from the recruiting office. they come from
a lot higher up. They may tell her that she "can" but will she be
"able". She will have to prove herself. Then "if" and "when" an
open spot occurs, she may take it, but that may not happen
in her first enlistment. I wish her well.
