Because turtles are not going around killing each other and they are not putting poisons into their bodies. Humans are ugly. Free will has created monsters among mankind.

Well, it'd be the perfect pet to keep in the family for a couple generations. As long as it didn't grow to the size of a sewer lid and dug 5 foot deep tunnels.

generally animals who have slower heartbeats live longer. that's why mice don't live too long while turtles do.
