Im thinking of having my rehersal dinner at a bowling alley. Do you think this would be a good idea??

I love this idea! I would do it under two conditions...

1. Make sure you could rent out the entire bowling alley or a big chunk of it, so that you wouldn't have drunk strangers in the next lane hitting on your bridesmaids, etc...

2. I would see if you could have it catered from somewhere besides the bowling alley (even a hotwings place or something) so that you have more control over the food... otherwise you might end up with cold hotdogs and nachos for your rehearsal dinner.

Above all, make sure it is really really fun. Keep the business for the actual rehearsal of the wedding, and then use the rehearsal DINNER to throw down with the people who are closest to you!

I had my rehersal dinner at the church where we were going to get married then most of us (some of the older relatives did not go) went to a nearby bowling ally. Everyone loved it! My husband and I thought it was a great idea since most of our bridesmaids, groomsmen were from out of town and we wanted to spend time with them. I have some great pictures too! We had so much fun then the girls headed to a hotel and the boys to my apt.

A rehearsal dinner is more of a business meeting or planning session than a party. This is the time to address any concerns and questions, and that won't happen if you are all busy bowling! Plan on a modest, casual meal somewhere that will set aside a quiet corner for your party. Then, if all the troubles are ironed out by the time dinner is over, head over to Lucky Lanes for some bowling and brews. (Of course, if Lucky Lanes has a private room for you and serves good food, nothing wrong with eating there.)

It's your wedding - I think pretty much anything goes for RDs these days. If both of you love to bowl and it's going to be a part of your new life together, then go for it! Make sure your dinner menu fits the occasion (lots of greasy bowling food!) - sounds like fun! Congratulations!!!

I don't think there is any rule on this these days.

I attended one a few years ago at a local pizza chain. The groom's mother was sure able to afford to pay for that.

Do what you can afford or what you feel is fun.

I've turned this over to the groom and his family to plan, I had to delegate something, and I don't really care for what they are planning, but I have enough to worry about and figured I will go with the flow on it. They're debating over various steak houses. Eh, whatever.

I don't even really like bowling, but I think I'd rather attend yours than mine, LOL! ;P

Sure go for it!

I would make sure the people invited to the rehearsal dinner like playing arcade games and bowl first though.

I'd LOVE to be invited to that rehearsal dinner!

Actually that sounds really fun. My family and my husband's family loves to bowl and with all of the kids that will be there, it's a great place for arcades. It's simple and if you aren't too competitive it can be alot of fun! Great idea!

Only if the people involved really like bowling or if it has a special tie to the couple like you are pro bowlers. Only you know your wedding party well enough to know if they will be game for something like that.

personally I hate bowling alleys. They usually stink and I don't want to put my feet in shoes where I dunno who came before me with what foot fungus. I also can't eat that really greasy food without getting very sick.
