you can live the rest of you life. You have to go to your treatments 3 x's a week (missing tx's shortens your life span in the long run). You also have to listen to your doctor and dietician as far as treatment regimen goes. But as for the general question, you can live a long life on dialysis

My friend has been on it for 5 years. She was told she could be on it for ever if needed.
