Stay at home mothers do all the work that most people get paid to do out in the real world. Children are hard work, and there is no manual, and no real training. No one ever gets promoted for a job well done, and there are never any raises. Being a SAHM actually prepares you for dealing with petulant people in the world. Many SAHMs would love the adult interaction of having a paying job, but choose, for the betterment of their families, to be there for their children. And somehow they're still demonized.
I had always planned to go back to work after my child was born, but being a SAHM sped up the time frame. It made me long for the days when I worked and actually got paid for it. I was always much busier when I was at home, and at least a job outside the home has a finite beginning and a finite end. It isn't like that when you remain in the home. Lazy? Puh-leeze!
So, the answer is a resounding NO. I hope this helps.

provide a safe enviornment for children to live
organize the family's calendar
answer phone calls
drive kids to soccer practice
coordinate social outings
drive kids to the movies
take kids shopping
make sure the kids are doing well in school
make sure the kids get exercise
make sure the kids get spiritual education
stay in touch with the family
run around town
help kids with homework
walk the dog
change diapers
shop for food
donate to charities
go to the gym to not get fat because they do not eat bon bons
thats only a few of the things they do
they don't get paid
they make sure they raise good citizens for the world
and they are hardworking
they put others over themselves
its WAY more than a full time job
and only certain women can handle this job

A stay at home mom is probably not lazy. They do things like cook and clean. They make sure that the kids come home safe, and that there's food on the table. They might not be the ones "bringing home the bacon" but they definitly make sure that it gets cooked.
I think their life is probably harder than a woman's who actually has a job. They do so much for their family, and are home all the time. If they have a baby at home, then they have to put up with the screaming and the crying.
They're not lazy, if anything, they're probably over-worked.

i stayed at home for a while - 3 years because my youngest child was ill quite a lot and i missed a lot of work, so my husband and i decided i'd take time out for a while.
things i did:
made dolls and other sewing projects, started a daily exercise program for myself, gardened, dug a pond in the yard and started my own little ecosysem, sometimes i canned, started 2 aquariums, took up watercolor painting, traveled, found a couple of girls with kids my son's age and did things together, had the cleanest house in the county.
and took care of my son, who was a hand full!

That's crazy. It's been shown that the average stay at home mom does the equivalent of two full time jobs. That's not lazy...

I'm a stay at home mom...and trust me I'm not lazy...my youngest daughter has a severe disability and she is in a wheelchair...so before you start in about stay at home moms being lazy maybe you should rethink what you say!!!
